#1 NEW YORK TIMES BEST SELLER * "A dark and thoughtful tale... Grisham is at his best." -- People In the corridors of Chicago's top law firm: Twenty -six-year-old Adam Hall stands on the brink of a brilliant legal career. Now he is risking it all for a death-row killer and an impossible case. Maximum Security Unit, Mississippi State Prison: Sam Cayhall is a former Klansman and unrepentant racist now facing the death penalty for a fatal bombing in 1967. He has run out of chances -- except for one: the young, liberal Chicago lawyer who just happens to be his grandson. While the executioners prepare the gas chamber, while the protesters gather and the TV cameras wait, Adam has only days, hours, minutes to save his client. For between the two men is a chasm of shame, family lies, and secrets -- including the one secret that could save Sam Cayhall's life... or cost Adam his.

  • THE CHAMBER BY JOHN GRISHAM - DON'T BOTHER...

Hi, thank you for reading this review, this book was such a disappointment for me, and I am a HUGE John Grisham fan!! The books, not the movies, I did not even bother to see this movie because I read the book once and was like "what was the point of that????"!! I can say this - I have strong feelings about the death penalty and this book raised a lot of points, both pros and cons, about the subject. I feel that he was making a point about exactly that, getting the reader to question their feelings about the death penalty, whatever they may be, but that is about it...so if you have read one of his books and are looking for another great John Grisham story, pick another one 1st, or at least rent it from the library, but save your $$$ for a different book of his. See my other reviews to ...

  • Good book

Among Grisham's best. In his older books (1990's), he tends to get bogged down. near the middle of the book, in a lot of minutia that adds little to the story. Overall, another masterpiece.

  • Adam Wanted to Know About His Family

Many loose ends in this book. Lots of details about death row. Lots of questions about what is right and wrong about it. Sam would not reveal his accomplice because he feared for his family. The fact that his accomplice got away with his evil deeds is unsettling. Adam got to know his Grandfather in a very short time and will always be disturbed that he could not stay his execution. He helped give him the best defense he could at that time. Good book.

  • The Chamber

John Grisham is one of my favorite Authors, I have now read almost all of his books. I will not devulge any details about the book, Because if you are like me you will not want to know the plots untill you reach them in the book. But I do highly recomend this book.
