    A modern Docu-Fantasy by the ones that have no clue

    I absolutely let my guard down on this purchase. It was late on a Sunday night and all I looked at was WW2 and History Channel and I was on my way to a purchase. The next Morning I saw the kiss of death for a good Documentary.....CGI.......it was in the description of the DVD set and it was my fault for not reading more about it to see that. As I feared the set came and I immediately put the disk in that supposedly showed the Battle of Leyte Gulf and all that went on leading up to and after the Naval Battle. I only could stomach 5 or so minutes before I took the disk out. Nothing but fantasy with bits of fact woven in to try to keep it somehow factual. I'm 54 and I own EVERY documentary from Victory At Sea up to the mid 1990's and this video is crap. My 94 Year old uncle saw ...

    More than popular movie portrayals

    I am fascinated with WWII in many areas. It was a time of new and frenzied development. Changes were made out of necessity or even just to keep up with changes and improvements made by those we were in conflict with. This series devotes 4 discs to the carrier USS Enterprise during WWII. So if you are expecting Vulcans and Klingons, you will be sorely disappointed. I learned a lot about the carrier and didn't realize it was the one that accompanied the USS Hornet in April 1942, escorting the Doolittle Raiders. I didn't realize it was the most decorated ship in WWII. I didn't realize how many actions the carrier was involved with, and then the final destination for the perfect museum piece. The other 3 discs deal with George Patton. Like him or hate him, he was a force that helped ...

    Live the battles of WWII!

    The combination of historic film, commentary by the survivors, and computer animation makes this series absolutely outstanding. I purchased 3 complete sets, giving 2 sets as presents to friends who are history buffs. GREAT!
