First in a dual disc set, Konami Classics Vol. 1 features three classic Konami games, converted for play on Xbox 360. Originally released for PlayStation in 1997, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night added elements of RPG-style character development to the series' gothic 2D platform combat. First appearing in arcades in 1981, Frogger is one of the most popular and well-known video games of all time. In its coin-op debut in 1988, Super Contra added new weapons and refined graphics to the platform shooter sensation. All three games can be played as exact emulations of the original versions, or in a graphically enhanced 720p mode. The disc's release is accompanied by Volume 2, which includes emulations of the original Contra, Rush 'N Attack, and Track & Field.

Old School Games - Castlevania!
Good game compilation, but don't pay a whole lot for it unless you're really after one of the few vintage titles on this disc. Comes with Castlevania (Symphony of the Night), Super Contra, and Frogger (an admittedly odd trio of games, 2 shooters and Frogger?!?). More than likely, you're after at least one of the titles, and the rest are bonuses really. Considering there are two volumes to this, it's a bit odd they put Super Contra on the 1st one, and Contra on the 2nd one. (???) Game play is just fine for all, no complaints there really. If you don't own this in some other format (for a different game console), it's nice to have simple side-scrollers to play every once in a while. For me, Castlevania was the reason for purchase, but Frogger is fun for the girls, and there's nothing ... The Super Contra game is well worth the purchase, go for it.
I bought this game only for the Super Contra game, which I have looked for, for years, and remember playing at a wal mart as a kid. I already had the Castlevania game for the playstation, but will say if you don't it is one of the best Castlevanias of all time, although the play is a little harder from the original game. The frogger game is basic. I was ready to buy an actual arcade cabinet for the super contra game, this has saved me several hundred, if not thousands of dollars.I bought this game only for the Super Contra game, which I have looked for, for years, and remember playing at a wal mart as a kid. Timeless.
The reviews online about it are true. I mainly bought it for Castlevania SOTN. The gameplay was very well designed back then, and it still holds up well today. The other games Contra and Frogger are good cherries on top but draw hours of attention for.
