Product Information

Who wouldn't welcome the opportunity to turn back the hands of time? Tru Davies (Eliza Dukshu) sometimes has her doubts, because she is blessed--or cursed--with the ability to relive certain days and try to correct the ills that occurred. When Tru got a job in the city morgue just after college graduation, she wasn't prepared for the discovery she made. Dead bodies began calling out to her for help--a phenomenon she at first wrote off as her mind playing tricks on her. But when she woke up the next day, she knew what she had to do: prevent the murder that only she knew was going to occur. Thus began Tru's calling, which allows her to help the dead people who ask for her assistance. Meanwhile, fellow morgue attendant Jack Harper (Jason Priestly) is engaged in an exactly opposite endeavor: he tries to make people stay dead. Tru and Jack often butt heads in their missions, and Tru is also concerned with helping her family through their troubles. Harrison (Shawn Reaves), Tru's charming brother, has a tendency to attract trouble, while their sister Meredith (Jessica Collins), though wealthy and successful, is constantly battling her drug addiction. Tru's support comes from Davis, a fellow morgue worker who knows her secret, and her best friend, Lindsay (A.J. Cook). In the second season, Tru begins medical school, manages to discover some of Jack's secrets, and tries to help a friend of hers who dies but doesn't ask for help.

Tru - part 2 cut short unfortunately
The second season of this show was given a new plot twist when Tru was given a character who attempted to stop her from accomplishing her rewinds and saving lives. That the whole thing was sponsored by her father was a little over the edge and may have also involved the death of ther mother 10 or 11 eleven years before seems to take away from the story. To have a foil is okay, but the measures even her father went to seems unreal (in one episode he was even willing to have her go to jail for murder), Still, I enjoyed this shortened season of shows and felt with some thought and care, it could have continued.The second season of this show was given a new plot twist when Tru was given a character who attempted to stop her from accomplishing her rewinds and saving lives. Tru-ly Fun 2
A short but interesting second season to this Eliza Dushku series is fun to watch. While some of the characters from the first season are gone, specifically AJ Cook as Tru's best friend, there are new ones such as Liz Vassey as her professor. The show was a little more cohesive and showed signs of an interesting mythology before Fox ended the show. I would've liked to see what they would've done with it if the show had continued. Like season 1, a good addition to anyone's Eliza Dushku collection. (You can see my review of the first season for my feelings regarding the show in general.)A short but interesting second season to this Eliza Dushku series is fun to watch. Tru Calling Season 2~Keeps you on the edge of your seat
I used to watch this series when it was on TV and loved it. I sort of forgot about the show, until SciFi did an all day marathon on it. I really enjoyed the episodes that I got to see again and even saw some "new" ones that I had missed when they aired before. This series is about a girl named Tru (played by Eliza Dushku) who works in a morgue. She learns that she has the gift of re-living days when a corpse asks for her help. She is instantly propelled back to the previous day and knows exactly what will happen. She spends her time trying to stop the death of the person seeking her help. The other main character is Jack (played by Jason Priestly). Jack has a similar ability, but his job is to stop Tru from helping the dead. His "calling" is to keep the dead~dead. The interaction between these two characters is exciting and very confrontational at times. It is a very entertaining show and keeps watchers at the edge of their seat. Sometimes Tru does save the day, but not always. Sometimes Jack has his way.Unfortunately, this show was canceled in it's 2nd season. One thing that was a disappointment to me about season 2 is that there were only 6 episodes. Season one had 20 episodes. Season 2 does have a nice bonus though: The final episode that was never aired on TV (until SciFi aired it during the marathon) is included in Season 2. In that episode, arch enemies Tru and Jack have to work together. I highly recommend this series. Both season 1 and 2 are awesome! Season 1 is usually much more expensive since it has more episodes. Season 2 averages about $13-17 for the set of 2 discs.

Tru Calling joins "Charmed" in gathering up the remains of the 65 million viewer audience worldwide for this television genre for a second,entertaining season. Renewed by Fox for three more complete 22 episode season's in early June after the season 1 finale. Eliza Dushku goes on the promotional circuit pumping up the second season. This second year brings with it an almost "X-Files" type of mythology arc and delivers the goods in these 8 episodes. No one will go on record as to why Fox pulled the plug and cancelled the lucrative deal, other than the standard, lawyer approved "rating's slippage". I've heard rumors, but they don't really matter now. An excellent TV indulgence is gone, but lives on in through your DVD player! Season 2 is a must have for the TRU fan...
