Product Information

EA's NHL series marks its fifth appearance on PlayStation 3 with an enhanced "Be a Pro" mode, more dynamic goalies, and a retooled physics engine that increases the level of interactivity on the ice. The "Be a Pro" mode once again has you following the career of a created athlete, where you'll attempt to earn more playing time by performing well during your assigned shifts. You can now simulate each game up to the point when you're on the ice for less downtime. As you progress in this mode, you'll have the chance to break all-time records and become one of the sport's legends.<br><br>The new physics system incorporates broken glass, flying helmets, players being knocked over the boards and into benches, pushing the net off target, and sending bodies in the air with high-speed collisions. The goalies will work harder to block the puck and even engage in fights when tempers flare. Also new is the inclusion of the 2011 NHL Winter Classic at Heinz Field, where you'll be able to skate outdoors under the glow of stadium lights. Rounding out the list of new features are improved online communities and the ability to create an ultimate hockey team of past and present greats.

    Good game, not great. Missed the mark on a lot of specifics.

    I am a fan of this game. The game play and graphics are excellent. I have only played GM Mode thus far and find it to be very in depth and realistic. Here are my issues with this game...when fighting there is no blood, bruising etc..I also think the injuries in game could be a lot more realistic. My biggest issue is the commentary. They say the same things over and over and over! I wanted and expected a more realistic commentary as you moved further into your season..no such luck. I think this game hit big on some things and failed at others. All in all I think it is a good buy.

    This is an amazing game that's fun for everyone.

    NHL 12 is on of the best sports video games out there. Unlike other games it does a really good job of trying not to repackage the same game every year with small tweaks. Yes, it could be argued that there are small changes from 11 to 12 and there is validity to it, but the history of the franchise has been known to make major leaps from year to year. For whatever reason, EA seems to put the most effort into improving this series than others, for example NCAA and Madden. The game itself is a ton of fun whether you're a hockey fan or not. It's great to have constant action in playing this game unlike having breaks in other games. I bought this game because I enjoy playing it online vs other players and most of all playing against my friends in different states. It truly is a very addicting ...

    Fun, Entertaining, Great for groups, If you love hockey get this game.

    I have so far played a couple hours and I can tell you right away the controls and overall play is much better then NHL11. Much more dynamic goalie animations and play. Seems much more realistic. I am having a ton of fun, I think they did some really great tweaks. I have not tried all the modes but I really like the addition of the Winter Classic. I can't wait to check out some of the other new modes.
