    Great picture quality and sound...but finicky on media

    I will try to be as accurate as possible...Setup on this was a breeze..if you've set up a DVD Recorder before, it's very easy. Using the RCA ins and outs, the picture quality of the recording is just magnificent...even in the 8 hr. mode. The only drawbacks to this machine are 1) VERY particular about the media...it HAS to be 4x MAXIMUM DVD-R (minus R...plus will NOT WORK)...which is getting hard to find these days. The only place I found locally that sold media that worked on it ( I tried SEVERAL ) was at Best Buy...the Sony DVDRW minus R with 4X max. speed. These work great, but very expensive. The Princo 4x DVD-R is a LOT cheaper and worked almost as well, but can only get online...so stock up on them if you plan on recording a lot. and 2) When you insert a blank disk, ...

    May not work with all media

    The only issue I have with this recorder is that it only works with certain media. It works fine with some older DVDs I have, but not a newer, inkjet printable DVD. Both are DVD-R, 4.7 GB, 16x. I don't see a difference in the specs, but the player seems to. And it just gives a very generic error message that isn't helpful.

    Runs Great!

    I got this DVD player/recorder used and it works like a new one, it has a perfect picture and good audio, the only draw back is that the fast forward is slower than a VHS but that may be the norm for a DVD player as I have never had one before. BUT all and all it was well worth the price. even with no remote, the buttons work perfect for turning it on and off and starting and stopping it.

    perfect item

    my daughter wanted a basic dvd recorder to tape the shows she misses. this is just what she wanted, not alot of complicated options, very user friendly, and the price was right! slim unit, did not take up alot of space. easy to connect, easy to use!
