Red Sands DVD
A group of dysfunctional soldiers manages to release a Djinn by shooting a statue.... maybe?! The movie never bothers to show you where the thing came from. The Djinn is a shape-shifter which manages to isolate and destroy each member of the team one by one in a thoroughly gruesome way.... is what I'd like to say! What actually happens is the thing kills one guy! And we don't even get to see it happen he just shows up dead. After that the team starts to fall apart and they all kill each other. The Djinn may or may not have played a part in this it's not really made clear. Mostly the Djinn spends the whole movie as an Arabic woman crouched in the corner... how terrifying! If this is how Djinn kill people we may as well free them all, we manage to kill ourselves ten times faster than they ... When we finally see "the monster" it's just more of the computer generated garbage you see in all low budget horror flicks nowadays. The main problem with Turner's 'Red Sands' is that it was all build-up, for nothing. Never did it consolidate any interest in the situation, and the characters are truly hard to care for. The basis is not as compelling as it could have been, because everything feels half-baked and inconsistent. From it's supernatural element to the mental breakdown of its characters in a foreign culture. This made the script poorly conceived, as not much depth is taken out and there's plenty of time to do so since is has the soldiers pretty much sitting around. Instead it wants to be vague, but this occasion there's nothing else going on to let that slide. It's not weird, creepy or relentless. Over all it could have been a good movie, nice premise and a interesting story idea but it just fell apart. The Acting was sub-par, the effect were down right cheesy and the rest was a B movie at best. Get this on sale or at a low discount, not worth full retail price.

One of the bad B movies
I did a stupid thing I watched the promo on this movie first.I have seen some bad military movies in my time,but this one really sucked.If the us solder was as stupid as these guy,s they would be never allowed out in public.I served 5 years in the us army from 1964 to 1970 and seen some dumb s**t in my time but these guy,s really humped the pooch.I would not recomend this movie to anyone.
