  • Eeeny-ooony-wanah! Eeeny-ooony-wanah!

What an unbelievable book! This is a dream come true for fans of The Far Side! In it, you will witness: 1. Gary Larson's strange childhood. 2. Nature's Way, a sort of early version of The Far Side that appeared in The Seattle Times. 3. Gary Larson's creative process, which is very creative indeed! 4. A sketchbook of drawings and ideas that never made it past the initial stage, including some that would definitely have been winners. 5. Background stories on certain panels and random ideas. 6. Mistakes that either Gary or the newspaper editors made. Some of these are unbelieveable! Prepare to bust a gut! 7. Subtleties which make him wonder why he did certain things. Things he wished he wouldn't have done and things he wished he would have done. 8. Public responses to some ...

  • An Enlightening Glimpse Into the Mind of a Comic Genius

The Prehistory of the Far Side is a brilliant work of literature in which Gary Larson isn't afraid to tell it like he sees it. Beginning with the back story, which proved befittingly quirky, the reader is shown the entire growth of a Far Side cartoon, all the way from the thought process, through the execution, and into the mass media. The book also includes numerous examples where each of these steps failed, much to the annoyance of Larson and delight of the reader. For me, it's been comforting to go to bed after reading selections of this book - it reminds me that I'm not the only one with problems.

  • Book-The Prehistory of the Far Side by Gary Larson-1989

My husband and I are fans of Gary Larson's Far Side books and the one I am reviewing is especially funny. We give the books(I have purchased more than one) as gifts and actually just gave one for use at our local Veterans Hospital.(the soldiers can use a good laugh). The copies of the book I have purchased have been in excellent condition . I have been very pleased with them. Mary A. Kelehan (Bubbakeleh)

  • The Prehistory of the Farside

These are copies of the same books I have. I bought them for my grandson (all 5 Gallery books and the Pre-history.) How can you describe the off-beat brilliant humor of Gary Larson? I wanted this to go down two more generations. His humor is timeless. I'm 73 and I've been following comics since "Pogo". This strip along with Calvin & Hobbes, which run at the same time, are just genius
