Over the top
I have a lot of concerts on DVD and this one is one of the best I have ever had. The guitar playing is second to none and the base player and drummer are some of the best in the business. Their guest singers and a surprise visit by Eric Clapton were fantastic. What a together group of artists all in the same place. You couldn't ask for more. If you only have room for 5 concerts on your shelf, don't leave this one out, it will be the one that you will listen to over and over again. Jeff Beck - Live At Ronnie Scott's
Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, were the hottest young guitarists in London in the mid 1960's. Eric went for the blues, Jimmy rock & Jeff a Rock / Jazz fusion type of sound. In this DVD he goes across the board of music from jazz to rock to blues etc... and does each song with his own style. His technique with a Fender Stratocaster guitar would challenge Jimi Hendrix who is know as the ultimate Strat player. Defiantly watch the special interviews which he gives insights on his choice of songs and what they mean to him. He has some great guests preforming as well. Ronnie Scotts is a club and small venue so it If you like guitar music it is great and/or guitarists from the 60's this then this will defiantly improve you music library. Jeff Beck performing this week.. Live at Ronnie Scott's
Mindblowing! For those lucky enough to have been in attendance it was truly a unique experience. I found a video on Youtube of Jeff playing with Tal whom I had not heard of & was instantly hooked! I have been listening & going to see JB for close to 30 years & this is truly an amazing show. Vinnie Colaiuta's performance would make Mr. Zappa proud! Tal's infectious smile & incredible playing will keep her solidly in the top echelon of music for years to come! The guest players.... fantastic! Crowd cameo's - quite cool to see who's come out to see the master! These guys rip through JB's history reproducing some of the greatest tracks & give them great honor. As they say, "well worth the price of admission"Mindblowing! For those lucky enough to have been in attendance it was truly a unique experience. Very tasty indeed...
Jeff Beck and the band were absolutely stunning during this concert DVD. The band and guests were performing at exceptional levels, the video was solid and the sound quality was exceptional. To see someone like Jeff Beck who is arguably the the best or one of the best rock era guitarists in a small intimate club like Ronnie Scott's is an absolute treat. Jeff does a lot of unusual things with his guitar like picking with his thumb and fingers instead of using a nylon pick, lots of whammy bar action and manipulating the volume knobs while playing notes. To see what he does close up was very interesting and extremely enlightening as I had only seen Beck in mid-sized and large arenas back in the day. I was not able to truly understand the full extent of his guitar mastery and unique ... Jeff Beck and the band were absolutely stunning during this concert DVD. The band and guests were performing at exceptional levels, the video was solid and the sound quality was exceptional. To see someone like Jeff Beck who is arguably the the best or one of the best rock era guitarists in a small intimate club like Ronnie Scott's is an absolute treat. Nothing to dislike about it; I bought this dvd a week after seeing Jeff play in Cleveland and with the same lineup as on dvd. It was total magic live; melodic playing , great tone and just like on the dvd Jeff used one guitar without being out of tune. His band was fantastic ;especially the young female bass player. Beautiful music and total musical mastery. Everybody liking jazz and rock music should see Jeff Beck band live and then buy this dvd to refresh the wonderful memories of the concert!
