À propos de ce produit

Product Information

After nearly two decades of successful detours into mature thrillers (THE GIFT, A SIMPLE PLAN) and superhero blockbusters (the Spider-Man series), director Sam Raimi returns--full tilt--to his scrappy horror roots with DRAG ME TO HELL. Alison Lohman stars as Christine Brown, a soft-spoken Southern girl with a good heart, a PhD-toting boyfriend (Justin Long), and a job as a loan officer at a bank just outside of Los Angeles. When evicting a vile and negligent old woman named Mrs. Ganush (Lorna Raver) seems to be the only way to secure an important promotion, Christine pushes her moral flexibility about as far as it can go (not very far at all) only to dearly pay the price as the recipient of a rather nasty curse. The next three days of Christine’s life amount to an unimaginable endurance test in which she is subject to physical and psychological torture while a terrifying demon draws ever closer to take her to hell, where she would burn for eternity.Raimi manages to keep the feverish awfulness of DRAG ME's central concept palpable while layering on his distinctly disturbing and exhilaratingly kinetic macabre-meets-slapstick portraiture, and the result is an efficient celebration of the art of horror movies that’s campy, scary, and fun. Similar to HBO’s classic TALES FROM THE CRYPT series, HELL feels like a living, breathing EC comic. While it may come as a minor shock that Bruce Campbell, the beloved mouthpiece of the EVIL DEAD franchise, is nowhere to be found in this unabashed horror-comedy, Christine is an excellent twist on Raimi's genre-hero archetype. Fans will get a kick out of seeing her inexplicably leave her gob agape as putrid projectiles pour in, and hearing her, after a bit of pushing, spout a Campbell-ism or two ("I’m gonna get me some!").

  • Great movie with some squeamish moments

I was tempted to give this movie a 5, for the following reasons. The heroine, Christine (Alison Lohman) is the type of strong female character you don't often see in horror films. Like Naomi Watts in THE RING, Lohman was pretty without looking like a porn star; she took responsibility for her actions and had to make some difficult moral choices; and she actively investigated the mysterious happenings rather than sit back and be victimized. I liked Christine, I liked her boyfriend, and I liked their working together to break the curse put on Christine by an old gypsy hag. (If we horror fans have learned nothing else from Stephen King's THINNER, we've learned not to piss off an ancient gypsy. Christine must not have watched that movie). However, I had to take a point off because of ...

  • A good movie for a late night scare

Alison Lohman (Things We Lost in the Fire) stars as Christine Brown, a bank loan officer who is confronted by an old gypsy woman who is being evicted from her house by the bank. After a misunderstanding the women attacks then curses Christine. From there things go from bad to worse as she is haunted by and afflicted by the demons the women cursed upon her. This movie is perhaps one of the scariest movies I have seen in a while, Director Sam Raimi pulls no punches when it comes to "gotcha" moments in this one and you do not know what to expect. Also starring in this movie are: Justin Long, Lorna Raver, Dileep Rao, Adriana Barraza, David Paymer and Reggie Lee. Its a good movie for a late night scare and I recommend it to anyone, especially with Halloween just around the corner.

  • Drag Me Hell or is it:,"Make Me Sick"

Well lets see........ if you like scary looking old people, mean energetic young people trying to move up in the company by doing whatever it takes (even taking an old woman's home, just because you can, or an amazing fight seen between an 80 yr old woman and someone in there 30's. Fighting so hard that the old womans false teeth fall's out (and she has time in the middle of a fight to put them back in) now as if that wasn't bad enough, the old woman is fast enough to rip off the young ladies coat button and cast a spell on the younger woman. Not sure, but I kinda believe that could happen. Then this crazy looking creature starts coming after the young girl. The young girl was having an important dinner with her boyfriend's parents and she see's the creature coming after her there. They ...

  • Sam, Thanks for the bundle of Laughs, It's Hilarious!

Well Sam, what can I say? You really have a great deal of talent and I'm fascinated with your great sense of humor. I missed this at the theaters because it must of had limited billing. I seldom if ever pay 6.50 to 8.00 anytime to go to a new film unless it has the end of the world or something involved. I'm an avid Trekkie from 30 years back and I didn't even get excited about the newest film since it was meant to capture a new young audience. Drag Me To Hell is a great title for this film. If I didn't know any better, I would probably say that I identified greatly with the poor woman since I've felt cursed in the past, but not by an old witch. The button thing was pretty odd, and I knew she was going to have more trouble after the old gypsy witch died. Let just say that a lot of ...

  • A great idea but the film eventually lets you down

I was really looking forward to seeing this film. So much that whenever I found a screener available, I jumped at the chance to see it. Unfortunately, this is one film that I should have waited to see (like never.) The story starts off strong. We are first in Mexico or Spain and see a young man tormented by horrorific visions falling into a firey pit. Then the main story starts. A young bank teller named Christina is in the running to become the Vice-president of the bank she works at. Only one person stands in her way, Stu a new employee at the bank who kisses butt and attempts everything he can to get the jump over Christine. An old Gypsy woman comes into the bank to get a third extension on her home loan. In an effort to beat out her competition Christina refuses to give the ...
