The Umbrella Corporation's Vault, a secret facility located deep below Raccoon City, is sabotaged and a deadly virus is stolen. In the mansion that conceals another entrance to the Vault, Alice (Milla Jovovich) lies on the shower floor, naked except for the shower curtain. She can't remember anything but, as she dresses, she recalls memory fragments. Then, masked intruders burst through the windows. They tell Alice she is a Corporation agent living undercover in the mansion. She goes with them into the Vault to discover who sabotaged it. As they penetrate the Vault, trying to get to the Red Queen, the computer system at the heart of the facility, Alice and her confederates face many horrors--dead bodies suspended in water, blood-red flayed dogs, flesh-eating zombies, and "the Licker," a dynamically mutating monster.Basing RESIDENT EVIL on the popular video game, writer-director Paul W.S. Anderson delivers a tense, exciting science-fiction/horror film. Anderson and director of photography David Johnson shot the movie in rich silver-and-black, so that its few bursts of color are striking--like the image of the blonde Milla Jovovich in a very short crimson dress, with a trailing veil, and black boots dragging a silver axe behind her.

    AWESOME!

    My husband bought RE:2 for me for Christmas. He thought I'd seen RE already. Well, I hadn't. So, I had to get RE!!! It definitely put some of the pieces in place for RE:2. I love the ending and the fact the RE:2 picks right up. I love this genre and RE doesn't dissappoint. It's sci-fi, horror, action, you name it all in one. Not to mention that "Alice" is a kick-butt FEMALE lead! The premise may be a little far fetched, but the plot takes over and you just have to go with it. I would definitely recommend this for anyone that loves this genre.

    lightweight with great features

    The purchase of this item was a present from a friend for your child. Since the boy is the one who follows this saga of adventure. I also understand that the boy is a video game player and for that reason he knows this story for the big screen.

    I absolutely...

    ...love this movie. It is my favorite. I remember watching my brother play Resident Evil: Director's Cut on Playstation. We always thought it was so scary, so I was excited when I heard about this film (I love zombie movies!). Another reason I watched this film is because, two of my favorite actresses are in it. Jovovich and Rodriguez kick some serious butt, plain and simple. For those of you who love a good zombie flick, give this one a watch!

    A secret experiment. A deadly virus. A fatal mistake.

    This movie means business. Quick disaster with a mystery to it, jarring deaths, naked Milla, all in the first few minutes. It keeps up the pace throughout. In terms of critical comments, yes, you don't really care about the characters, but so what? How often do you really care about the monster fodder in horror films? And true, it wasn't a literal working of the movie, it didn't take place in a mansion and it didn't involve exploring lots of rooms and solving puzzles. That's because it's a movie. A literal translation of Resident Evil would probably be really dull. Games and movies are very different mediums. I don't think some people here understand that. One guy said he thought the movie rocked but after repeated viewings he thought it sucked, and that's a video game player attitude - ...

    BEST EVER GAME TO MOTION PICTURE

    ANY FAN OF THE GAME WILL ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS MOVIE! BY FAR THE BEST GAME TO MOVIE TO DATE; KEEPING TRUE TO THE R.E. DIRECTORS CUT / R.E. 2 STORY LINE (AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE IN CINEMA).
