Improved my segment performance
I'm 6-2 - 215 lb and I pedal a hybrid bike, but 95% of the time on paved roads. At 62 years of age, I average between 12 and 15 MPH per trip with a high mark of 34--with the wind. (I stop for stop signs and stop lights.) I had Happy Medium Kenda tires and they were nice for every 2,700 miles of use but were wimps when it came shards of glass. I chose the Schwalbe Marathon Mondials because they looked like they'd suit my riding preference, but more so because they look like they stand up to glass better. First thing I noticed was that at about 11 MPH the tires made a horrible front bearing packed with sand and rust noise. This noise is slowly disappating as I rack up miles, (at 200 so far) so I will get over that initial shock none the worse. The ride is a little stiffer, but the grip is a ... I've tried 55 to 75 PSI and there is a learning curve to get past going over acorn sized road hazards--the tires roll sideways over them--the Kendas ignored them. Here's the best part, I'm marking much better time on all my segments in all types of weather conditions. I think that's what matters most as faster means less fatigue and less fatigue means more time to ride. I will try to purchase these tires again if I can locate them.

OK for first tour
I put a set of Marathon Plus Touring tires on my mountain bike and a set of Marathon Mondial tires on my wifes mountain bike for the Pacific Coast highway tour. They have almost the same tread pattern but the Mondial tire without the extra thickness of the Plus tire, is lighter. After 1800 miles the Mondial tires had little wear and no flats. I had one flat on the"flatless" Plus tires and also little wear. Take this as one data point. I don't have enough miles on the tires to make any broad statement as to the quality. Great tires
Great tires. Second set I’ve had. They handle pavement and packed gravel really well. Also very durable.

One nice tire
I replaced the well worn stock 700X35 tires on my Giant Cyprus with these 40s and took a trial spin today for about 15 miles. I have to say that these tires are outstanding. They are more stable in loose sand and gravel patches and pretty much go where you point them. I am running about 70psi and they roll fine. Since they are taller then the 35s it is like gaining half a gear on the top end. I ran them up to 25mph on a local bike trail and outside of a low level noise they did fine and felt right at home. The overall look of these tires remind me of the old 26" middle-weight tires that came on most bikes back in the 60s.
