À propos de ce produit

Product Information

Based on the Elmore Leonard story, 3:10 TO YUMA is a riveting remake of the 1957 classic Western. It's the story of Dan Evans (Christian Bale), a down-and-out rancher who lost his leg in the Civil War. With a wife and two sons, he is struggling to put food on the table, and unable to make payments on his land. When the notorious gunman Ben Wade (Russell Crowe) is apprehended nearby, a few local men are needed to escort him to the town of Contention so he can be put on the 3:10 train to Yuma Prison. Few will volunteer for the job, as they know that Wade's ruthless gang will follow them, but Evans sees an opportunity to make some fast cash, and offers to go in exchange for $200. The small team of men set off, and are later joined by Evans's young son William (Logan Lerman), who has run away from home to join them. What follows is a race against time, as the group tries to get to Yuma without the clever and dangerous Wade outsmarting them.Crowe is fantastic as the smooth-talking gunman, and Bale delivers a moving performance as the weary-eyed Evans. The two men are perfect foils for each other. Wade is the infamous gunman, living the high life on the wrong side of the law, while Evans, who has struggled to lead an honest life, has only faced one hardship after another. It is a classic tale of good vs. evil, right vs. wrong, and yet, by the story's end, it becomes harder to separate the good guys from the bad. As the clockticks down, the film builds to an emotional nail-biter of an ending, reminiscent of BUTCH CASSIDY AND THE SUNDANCE KID.

  • Grim And Gritty... But Riveting!

This Film is one of the new films that is being made during the resurgence of westerns for the Big Screen. Even though it is a remake of an older western, the modern day 'grim and grittiness' of today's films has changed this film into a riveting movie to watch! There is a lot of violence, but it adds to the storyline. Russell Crowe as the badman 'Ben Wade' is excellent in his portrayal, yet not over the top. Christian Bale is also excellent in the film, and his efforts are not beyond the scope of actually doing it in real life, so his 'reel' time is believable. Gretchen Moll, who was excellent in 'The Notorious Bettie Page', was just OK in this film, as even this modern day western gave us only two female roles. This film is very good for a rental, IF you don't mind violence in your ...

  • 3:10 to YUMA (2008 DVD)

I bought this DVD a couple of months ago, principally for my husband to watch, based on the excellent reviews the film had received in the press and from various film critics. Having now watched the movie, I have to say that both my husband and I were disappointed with it and, frankly, fail to see how it earned rave reviews - except perhaps for the violence, the special effects and the photography. We found Russell Crowe to be unconvincing in his role as a gunfighter, although Christian Bale's performance was very good. Ignoring the fact that the film is a remake, in our opinion it cannot be compared to Clint Eastwood's "Unforgiven". Perhaps we missed something, but for my money there are far better Western-style movies to watch, including "Open Range".

  • Bale and Crowe Give Moving Performances

Christian Bale gives his best onscreen performance as plays the part of Dan Evans, a former Civil War Yankee who has lost his leg and is now trying to live an honest life raising cattle, but he is struggling to do just that. Ben Wade, played by Russell Crowe, is the exact opposite. He is an outlaw living life large, that is until he is caught by the law. The law needs someone extra to help bring the outlaw to the 3:10 train to Yuma, meanwhile Evans is about to lose his farm, so he volunteers to bring the outlaw in. At the same time, Wade's men are trying to run them down and free him. Crowe and Bale try to outwit each other to end, and I didn't really want to see either side win. Both sides of the law were likable, and I kind of wanted to see a compromise. Crowe offers Bale money ...

  • Do not get this movie!

This movie was touted as, "The best western since Unforgiven." This movie does not even come close to Unforgiven. It is the slowest, driest, longest snooze-fest ever put on film. I haven't seen the original; I won't based on this version. The ending is the only part worth watching. If a movie only has five minutes worth of watchable content, it should not even be made. But you do get a small piece of star power coming from Russell Crowe. If that's how you spell his name. I like him as an actor, and he does really well in this film, but otherwise, this movie blows. Go get any western with Clint Eastwood, or even Young Guns, or better yet, get Tombstone, the best western ever. Don't waste a dime on 3:10...

  • Get it!

This is a Russell Crowe film, and it is Russell at his very best. He also starred in Master and Commander, which is a great one. This particular offering is about the best western to come down the pike in many years. The only one that I have seen that would equal it is Tombstone with Val Kilmer. The story is of an outlaw named Ben Wade, who is taken into custody and transported, through many perils, to Yuma to catch the 3:10 train that will bring him to justice. His gang attempts to rescue him, and it's a brawl from the git go. Ben has a change of heart, seemingly, which centers around a small boy. I won't tell the ending, because it is a surprise. But he plays that part superbly. Russell has matured in his acting and plays out a plausible story in a manner that demonstrates his ...
