This spectacular biblical epic from legendary showman Cecil B. DeMille tells the story of Moses from his infancy to the triumphant moment when he led the Israelites out of captivity in Egypt. The film begins as the pharaoh's daughter (Yvonne De Carlo) discovers the abandoned infant Moses and takes him to the shelter of her family. Charlton Heston stars as the young man raised by the pharaoh as an Egyptian prince. Moses is righteous and kind, the favored successor to the kingdom, which results in the deep-seated jealousy of Prince Rameses (Yul Brynner). Rameses and Moses compete for the throne and the love of the young princess, Nefretiri (Anne Baxter), until Moses learns the truth about his origins and joins the Jewish slaves in their fight for freedom. After receiving the Ten Commandments from God, Moses helps free the Jews from the pharaoh's tyrannical rule, surmounting all obstacles in his way--including the parting of the Red Sea, in one of the movie's most famous scenes. Cecil B. DeMille's extravagant final film--and remake of his silent 1923 version--is a legendary combination of the master showman's love of historical realism, spectacle, lavish scenic design, and dizzying crowd sequences. The exodus alone is a stunning feat of modern cinema, featuring thousands of actors trekking through the arid desert as Pharaoh's chariots chase after them.

Excellent movie
Glory to God in the Highest. This movie was absolutely uplifting....to see what God has done. There is no love deeper, nor higher, nor greater...than the love of our God. Cecil B. DeMille did extensive research to make this movie and tell the World about God's great love to his people. Our God neither slumbers nor sleeps....He always remembers ....and at the right time on His clock....He delivered his people from bondage and oppression. He can take you from the deepest pit and set you on firm ground. What he did for the Israelites....He will do for you. If you call upon the name of the Lord....you will be saved. For God so loved the world....He gave his one and only son...whosoever believes in Him shall not perish....but have everlasting life. A big thank you to Mr. DeMille ..who ... Let My People Go....His GOD is GOD.
I saw this movie for the first time back in the 60's. It was on TV and was awesome. Now on Blue Ray, it is back and even better. I was not aware of the detail that was lost in the movie as time went on. TV at the time was not high def and much was lost when seeing it on TV. The Ten Commandments was restored and they did an excellent job to get it to Blue Ray. The detail in the Blue Ray release is amazing. You see things that were not seen in previous releases. The cast is incredible. Charleston Heston was Moses. Yule Brenner was Pharaoh. My favorite line by Rhameses in the movie was "His GOD IS GOD." Edward G Robinson was awesome as Dathan. Evil to the core and he played it well. And the women.....ah......every one a beauty. The parting of the sea was at the time one of the best special ... Today it would be seen as weak but it still has a powerful impact as the sea covers the Egyptian army. Lots of green screen blue lines but that was part of the deal when the movie was made. I congratulate those who did the restore as they could have removed the lines but chose not to do so. It gives the movie a period feeling. As Mr. Demille states at the beginning of the movie, it is a story as old as man. The idea of freedom and slavery. An idea that today has more relevance than at any time previously in human history. Even more so today in 2012 than in 1956 when the movie was made.

Ten commandments blueray dvd.
I have always loved this movie. It looks even better in the blueray remaster. The special features are great too.

Academy award protratals
Great classic movie that should be shown every holiday season. The actors are very entertaining in their roles and give academy award perforrmances. One you can watch over and over and never tire of.
