Brittany Murphy and Dakota Fanning star in this charming romp about a young woman and a young girl who are thrust together against the odds but ultimately teach each other something about life and love. Murphy is Molly Gunn, a rock and roll princess whose father was a famous music legend. She lives wildly off her inheritance--until the man in charge of her money takes off with it. With bankruptcy staring her in the face, she is forced to do something she never dreamed of--get a job. So she becomes a nanny--for precocious Ray Schleine (Fanning), an eight-year-old who acts more mature than she does but doesn't have much fun in life.Boaz Yakin's comedy is filmed throughout New York City--including in Coney Island, Williamsburg, Henri Bendel's, and Central Park--and it takes advantage of that setting like few recent films. The streets of the city are another character as Molly and Ray slowly begin to develop a relationship that neither one ever dreamed would happen. The movie features support from Heather Locklear as Ray's very busy record executive mom, Donald Faison as Molly's party-loving music friend, and Jesse Spencer as Molly's musician boyfriend, who did all his own singing on the film and whose work appears on the soundtrack album.

    Fun & Heartwarming

    A Must See! Dakota Fanning is convincing as a hypochondriac 8 year old who is more mature than her mom and especially more mature that her nanny, portrayed by the late Brittany Murphy. Together they embark on a journey that will make them grow in so many ways.

    Fun movie with great actors!

    Great movie, lots of fun to watch. To see a fun loving and kind young lady with tons of money only to have it all stolen by the person who was suppose to have it in a safe trust. So she becomes part of the working class and becomes the nanny of a young girl who is in dire need of someone's sincere care and attention, since she has a mother who is always working and/or dating and sadly a father who is in a vegetable state. In time the young lady earns the young girl's trust and friendship and then more importantly the love she has been lacking for a good part of her young life. Great movie with a young Dakota Fanning and very sadly Brittany Murphy who is no longer with us, may she rest in peace. Thanks Brittnay for this keepsake of your wonderful talented acting.

    Brilliant¡

    I absolutely love this movie. I appreciate the availability of anything with Brittany Murphy in it. I miss her. She brought sunshine into our world. I'll be looking for Just Married next!

    The title describes the main characters very well

    This movie is a very good chick flick. Especially if you love tear jerkers . It is funny, sad, romantic, and serious all in one . It is one of the best movies i have ever seen . A girl goes from being spoiled and rich , to losing everything and getting a big dose of reality . The she meets someone who changes her life and makes her realize there is more to life than money and material possesions. I will not give away the ending, although I will tell you to make sure you have tissues ready. Overall a great movie , if all my dvds get destroyed this would be one of the first I would replace.

    I loved EVERY moment!

    This movie was the type to make you laugh, cry and get attached to the characters. I would highly recommend Uptown Girls.
