Very Durable but net features are slow
I can assure you this is a heavy duty phone. I once was at a metal concert at a outdoor venue and my phone was knocked from my hand while I was recording video when a mosh pit erupted behind me. The phone to my dismay hit the pavement and I thought it was doomed and it got stepped on too. I picked it up dusted it off and luckily the screen wasn't scratched just the outer edges and a couple of the buttons which it only has 3 on the front everything else is touch screen. I mean I have dropped this phone several times, its gotten a lil bit wet here and there not drowned in water but still this phone worked. The one thing I do dislike is the old droid OS that is really slow and tends to crash. If you try putting alot of newer aps on it it will slow, freeze or crash. Keep it simple for this ... Its IDEN but the good thing is I rarely have dropped calls or lose signal and instant messaging and texting works great. The phone has great storage capabilities. It comes with a 2 gig micro SD and the adapter SD to plug it into your computer. Also the USB cable/power cord is handy. You dont even have to take the SD card out to transfer data from your computer and phone as you can simply take the USB cord and detach it from the adapter for the power outlet. It comes with a headset that has a push to talk button on it but I got a wireless bluetooth one anyways. the battery is decent as well. I knew a friend with a new HTC phone and the battery was terrible lasted maybe a hour or 2 and got poor signal. He paid alot for the phone and his plan. Ouch. the phone has good sound quality and video quality. I can play music and video back and it will be pretty loud. You also do not have to buy ringtones. I think this is the only boost phone where you can download and use your own music and make your own ringtones. I when I first got it tried finding ringtones for it and could not and was like what the heck? I soon figured out I could just use my own stuff so it saves you money there being ringtones and sounds can be $1-$3 a pop. I was able to assign different songs to different contacts and pictures and it was really nifty. Despite the slow net speed and old OS there is alot you can do with this phone and having push to talk makes it awesome. Now days there is a droid and apple ap that can turn any smartphone into a push to talk as well but your gonna still pay like about a hundred bucks a month for their plans. Having Boosts cheap unlimited plan now with the shrinkage subtracting $5 off your bill every so many months makes this one of the best smartphone deals. Boost does offer a 3G phone with a $60 unlimited plan the blackberry curve which retails cheaper than the i1 but theres no push to talk and I dont know if theres a blackberry ap for that. theres more droid and apple aps for sure just be careful when downloading them to make sure they will be compatible with your phone. Other than that it is a decent phone and hopefully the price will come down as with the OS they are running and the slow network speeds I think Boost should market this phone around the Blackberry curves price. Or offer a discount for new customers or new phone activations. Still its a good buy for the price of unlimited service.

this is my 1st time leaving a review for something, because i wanted people to know how good i think this phone is. This Phone Works Great, one thing i noticed when i bought this phone brand new and set it to charge was that it started at 10% then went straight to 30% then to 60% then to 90% and lastly 100%. I dont ever see exact battery life percentage. for example 36%, 47%, 58%, 79% & 98% ect. Although it doesnt seem to show exact battery life, it does seem to have good signal reception, atleast in my area. Even works in basement (check coverage in your area before buying, just enter your address and see how good or bad is your coverage. http://www.boostmobile.com/coverage/ ), receives messages and calls. Great iDEN phone!
This phone is amazing if you're used to other Nextel or Boost iDEN phones. The speaker is loud and clear, and at last you have access to the android market for very useful apps. If you're used the 3G data on other smart phones you'll be disappointed with the internet speed, but those of us that love Nextel direct connect finally have a phone that does it all. That being said, it does take forever to download apps using iDEN. I haven't tried using wifi to download like it recommends, so I can't comment on that. One way that works well is to pick the app you want to download when you put it on the charger for night and let it work away at it. (it can take more than an hour for some apps)I use my i1 on Boost mobile which offers the best rates and has the same service as Nextel..This phone is amazing if you're used to other Nextel or Boost iDEN phones. Good if you know what your getting.
First off those who expect this to run like an iPhone or any other smart phone on a contracted plan.....forget it. Those plans use 3G/4G networks which are optimized for modern data transfer usage. This phone uses the IDEN network a network that was created in 1993. This network was made for phone and messaging, the internet was in its infancy. IDEN has superior call quality and true "instant" messaging so for calls and texts IDEN is superior. IDEN for web browsing etc... is slooooowww. So do not expect to surf the web like you can on a 3G/4G based phone using the IDEN network. Using wifi, this phone is very capable. As far as apps go if this is your first smart phone i think you will be pleased, if your moving over from another service for Boost's superior pricing plans... your going to ... Motorola dropped the ball big time on this phone. They released it with the antiquated android 1.5 os and have never updated it... and never will (trust me) So many many apps will not even work on this phone. Overall this is a good phone with excellent build quality and durability. Uses IDEN network so call quality is top notch and texting is truly "instant". The Web is great if your using wifi, if you need to use the web over the network be prepared for speed equivalent to 1990's dial up. Android os 1.5 is garbage, so do not expect many apps to work. A very good phone if you know what your getting.

Poorest excuse of an Android on this side of the universe.
THE ONLY REASON ANYONE WOULD HAVE THIS PAPER WEIGHT IS BECAUSE THEY'RE ON THE IDEN NETWORK! This is the second i1 Android I've had to buy using the poor Boost Mobile iden service, as we're expanding our business and need another line. It is purely pathetic that Nextel/Sprint doesn't expand their technology to grow beyond such an inane, poorly designed (lowest level) Android cell phone exclusively and solely for use on the antiquated iden network! I use the speaker feature exclusively, but the tiny little insignificant icon to activate it is so UN-strategically located in the bottom corner so close to the the cancel icon that 9 out of 10 times the call gets canceled accidentally! And of course their is no default option to leave the speaker always on. Without any other Android yet to be ...
