It's letting me write this review
I have had this router for almost 2 months and the unit works quite well. The administration features and remote access are nice. I have used this for 3 computers in my house, one laptop, one PC hardwired, and my Cingular 8125 phone using wifi. They all work perfectly. I rated it Good rather then Excellent since I have only used some of its functions, if I play with it more I might give it a 5 so long as everything works out. I have not attempted to VPN into my home PC yet, that will be the ultimate test. The unit is quite easy to configure and the reset button comes in handy when you lock yourself out on accident. The only thing I have noticed that seems buggy is the SSID, for some reason when I select do not broadcast it ignores my change even after I save the settings and it ... Neither of these I have used since I have good range already and I don't use a D-Link reciever for my laptop (it is Dell's built in one). I like it overall and am happy with my purchase.

Good router
I personally have the D-Link DIR-655 router, but bought this for my GF for her new apartment. Only had it for a short time so I can't give any long term assesment. However, it was purchased "used" on ebay and it works perfectly now. Nice looking router and very easy to setup. Modem/Router combo indicates 54.0 Mbps on cable. Wireless range is good within the apartment, but it is in a pretty small apartment. The software supplied, apparently is only for the "quick set-up guide" (which you receive a hard copy of anyway) and a manual + some other add on items. No installation software that I could see. Instructions as to how to get to the D-Link web site for registry and security set-up are very easy to follow. Just a bit of added info (maybe all routers are the same???),this is only an ... Had to use a different computer for registering and setting the D-Link wireless securtiy since my GF's computer ethernet connection "jack" isn't working (internal ethernet function is). She had been connected straight from the Motorola modem to her Laptop via a USB cable. Her computer works perfectly now on the ethernet wireless. Bottom line, this is a very good router if one isn't interested in the 802.11n (believe that's the latest released).

Good Feature Rich Router that is durable.
I bought this in 02/2004 when my Linksys Router went Kaput. Setup was a breeze. Plugged my cable modem (comcast internet service) in and my PC, logged in to the admin URL and ran the setup wizard and I was ready to go. I have 4 machines connected to it (3 wired, 1 wireless). Speed: Of course right of the bat the Wireless G speed is a big improvement over a/b and the burst rate of 108Mbps was not attainable by me but I did go higher than 54Mbps many times. Range: The range of this router covers most of my 3400 sq ft house so no complaints here. I can even sit on my back patio and get access when the router is in the front of my house (in my office) Features: I like the fact I can leverage static DHCP where I can assign an IP address to the same LAN card (MAC address) each time a ... This makes it easy to leverage some of the features such as redirecting ports. For example I redirect port 22 requests to my linux box so I can log onto it from anywhere as long as I know my comcast IP address. Similarly you can have a test web server setup and redirect port 80 that way. You can play with DMZ and a whole slew of other features but I have never really had a need for them. I have changed (for performance reasons) the router to perform in G only mode (mixed mode - supporting wireless B cards impacts performance) The biggest win is reliability - 3 yrs and still running whereas my linksys only lasted a shade over 2 yrs. A good Home WAP, for few dollars.
Pro: This little Wireless Access point/Router is fine for home installation. The setup wizard is simple to use (it's a built-in web interface, so you just browse to the unit), and there is COPIOUS help throughout. I wouldn't suggest any neophyte attempt any wifi setup without being mentored some way, but this comes closeset to automated mentoring I've seen in a long time. I was able to plug in, and did the config over the wireless connection from my Nokia n800 tiny tablet with no problems at all. All of the usual security features are available, including the "limit access to these MAC addresses" filter, which while not foolproof, is certainly helpful in preventing IP poaching. I'd buy another. :) Con: I can't seem to disable the "configure over the wireless" feature, which really ... Pro: This little Wireless Access point/Router is fine for home installation. Awesome router!
Great router for the money! Very versitile, yet easy to use. Great for someone who isnt very tech savvy, but has great features for computers geeks like me. People who complain about this router didn't do any homework...if it's giving you problems...reset it to factory defaults and upgrade the firmware...very easy to do in the setup wizard!
