Product Information

Young Mel and Mark have been left in charge of a small Toy Shop after their grandfather's death, but they only have three years to make it successful or the city will take over. Each year is divided into four quarters during which gamers can choose to just make toys, run the store, or take over the entire business operation, and each month of the year features a signature event, such as Christmas or Halloween, that will affect the number of customers. Players can design and sell more than 30 toys, including teddy bears, action figures, and board games, and as the shop becomes more successful gamers can open larger stores throughout town. On the business side of things, players must adjust prices and stock based on customer mood, budget, and buying habits, as well as ensure repeat business and good word-of-mouth by providing excellent service. The stylus-based action will put gamers in contact with more than ten different characters, including the mayor, and bring players to six locations throughout town, like the town square, the commercial district, and the beach.

    TOY SHOP (NINTENDO DS)

    I have been playing this game for 3 days now, since july 18th, and this is harder than expected. It was impoosble to do it right the first tiem, so I had to restart probably 7 times to get the correct toy made and actually start pulling a profit, but I do like these sort of games. It is time consuming but when you finally get going and talk to people in town and make money, you get to build more and more toys. Sometimes I just wanted to not play anymore but I just needed to see what toy was up next for making. You have to make the toy over and over and fail a bit and then you get better and better. Thats what drains your cashflow so I keep the store open almost all the time while the boy makes toys, the girl tends the store.

    Not Good At All

    The game sounds fun and eventful by description, but it's not. The graphics in the toy store are seriously lacking (you don't even see real toys displayed, just graphic color blocks). When you go to other places such as the Market District, there are side streets that you can start to walk down, only to come to an abrupt end halfway down the street. Why allow character to walk down side street at all? It's annoying and a waste of time. Character conversations are- yawn- boring when you find them. The camera has imperfections too when you are trying to get into shops. Due to camera you can easily pass them right on by. Running the store is also boring. You don't get to arrange things as you might hope to or really interact with customers. Building the toys is even more disappointing. You ...

    Ds game

    Great game. Of course quality isn’t that well because it’s a 2006 game, but if you love to have your own TOY STORE then I say this is the game for anyone! :)

    Patience

    I love my cake mania games and when I seen this game in the store it sounded kind of similiar with technique anyway. I just received the game and was excited to play. As the other review says, this game does take time. At first it was hard to figure things out. I was just making one toy until I seen the tabs to switch between categories. Also like the other review says, you do have to make toys more than once to succeed. I have not yet been able to make a profit but I'm only on day four in the game. It's a great challenge and thinking game.
