Avis les plus pertinents

  • The first 5 episodes of the Zatoichi Television series are really good !!!

I thought this 2 DVD set was a great deal for the price I paid. I think the company who produced this DVD intentionally put Volume 1 at a low price, to get people interested. The subsequent volumes are more expensive, and a bit harder to find. The two DVDs contain the first 5 episodes of the Zatoichi television series that began in 1974, after making 25 full length films. I thought there would most likely be a decline in quality, as is often the case when a movie story goes to TV. That is not the case here, these 5 episodes are very consistent with the original films. There is less censorship in Japan, and the stories are gritty and realistic. This set is a must have for Zatoichi fans, & a great place to start for the curious.

  • Zatoichi - The Blind Swordsman TV Series Vol.1

I have been a fan of the Zatoichi movies and decided to check out the TV series that followed. Although the main character stays true to form in the TV series, like anything else with a smaller timeframe, you'll have a smaller story, but that being said, the lead character also became the director in the series and I feel that this was a good thing for the integrity of the series. Who else knows how a sightless, wandering gambler/swordsman, sinner/saint would react in various situations? Good writing and acting prevail in even a small time slot and leave the viewer wanting the other volumes. A winner among series of any type. Something to be had for everyone that is fortunate enough to see it I heartily recommend it!

  • Zatoichi 'The blind swordsman'

Zatoichi graduates from cinema, after 25 films into T.V. The longest running show in Japanese film history, boasting of 25 full feature films and 100 t.v episodes running from the mid 60's up to the 80's. This DVD contains the first 5 episodes of the T.V series starring Shintaro Katsu. Very highly recommended not only for fans but for also those who want to discover why Zatoichi became one of the most loved and longest series in japan... NOW WHERE THE HECK IS VOLUME 2?

  • zatoichi is awesome, love this character

  • Great movie although the translation a little off.

I have always liked Japanese films since living in their country. I learnt to speak enough Japanese to follow along. However, the translations are not always that good and can redirect meaning. I would like to see the subtitles match a little more specifically, even though it is an old language. Other than that Zatoichi is amazingly fast with his sword that the eye cannot follow. I wonder if they speed up the fight scenes?
