Product Information

The bestselling book on intermediate accounting, Kieso is an excellent reference for practicing accountants and an invaluable resource for anyone entering the field. It integrates FARS/Codification exercises, cases, and simulations into the chapters. This introduces readers to the codification project. They'll learn how to leverage everyday accounting programs like Excel, GLS, and other computerized accounting software giving them a strong background in the tools needed in the accounting profession. New and existing content is arranged in a way to offer accountants a chance to review key concepts. New to This Edition: NEW IFRS content: Intermediate Accounting , 13e, includes, in 20 of the 24 chapters, a "Convergence Corner" feature that demonstrates to readers how international financial reporting standards apply to the main topics of the chapter. * Updated Appendix 24B provides a complete discussion of the international accounting and reporting environment, with the latest convergence developments. * Quick-hitting International Insights in the margins compare or contrast international standards with a point under discussion in the nearby text. * New end-of-chapter Questions in each chapter focus on international standards introduced in the chapter. These questions are marked with an icon for easy reference. * International Reporting Cases ask readers to analyze financial statements of international companies and apply analysis with the application of international standards. Updated Fair Value discussions Fair value has been expanded at both the introductory level in Chapter 2 and in subsequent chapters where appropriate. The more thorough discussion in Chapter 2 lays the groundwork for expanded discussions in later chapters. The result is a solid understanding of fair value in the accounting profession today. FASB Codification This edition integrates the new FASB Codification throughout. References to the accounting pronouncements replaced by a numbering system in each chapter linked to the new Codification. A list of Codification references at the end of each chapter links the bracketed numbers from the text to the Codification; this list also includes a reference to the preceding literature, for easing the transition to the new system. In addition, a handful of quick exercises in each chapter give readers opportunities for practice and simple research in the Codification. Revised End-of-Chapter Material Names, numbers, and dates in all end-of-chapter materials, including brief exercises and problems, have been changed. Expanded CPA-prep Professional Simulations Now be offering a complete online Wiley CPA prep course electronically. Updated real-world focus: This edition contains many new chapter-opening stories and "What Do the Numbers Mean?" boxes. Such applications join theory and practice, and demonstrate to readers the use of accounting in today's business world.

  • The Edition was Earlier Than What I Searched For

The book was in good condition but I was misled into purchasing this product. The search feature on the website led me to this book but it was actually an earlier edition. By the time I clicked purchase, it was too late when I noticed that I ordered an earlier edition. It was not the end of the world, the version was pretty similar but some of the problems in the back were different. As I searched more on half.com for more books. I noticed this same "bait and switch" approach. I would search for one book but get another very similar text book in the search results. I'm not trying to blame half.com because I was the one who pulled the trigger and made the purchase but I don't know if I will be using this service again. I don't want to spend a lot of time trying to make sure that I'm ...

  • Not the best book. Lot of examples at back of chapter: practice.

Product provides a question format in the text that does not lead to ultimate conclusions. It leaves a lot of debate that is currently underway in the world of accounting. The problem, though, is that Intermediate accounting is a subject that expands upon the initial accounting cycle - students are trying to just keep pace with the bulk information being chucked their way, let alone being riddled and confused with the complex nature of the politicking done by the AICPA,SEC, and groups. In all, it provided basic "textbook" examples. However, some of the examples in the book do not give exact reasoning - it assumes the student has already taken course series on bonds, stocks, etc. Come prepared if your teacher provides this book. With more than one circumstance I had to resort back to my ...

  • Great Value

I bought this book because the actual textbook costs $200 or more, and this is a PDF version for only $25. I love the price, obviously, especially since I am a college student covering all of my own expenses (no loans, grants, etc.). Books are usually so expensive so this was a nice find. The only thing I don't like about it is that, when reading the book, I have to read it on the computer (unless I print out pages). I knew I would have to, and it is a trade off of price. Also, I don't know if there IS a glossary in the book, but there isn't one included with this which is a little frustrating. I use glossaries a lot! All in all, I definitely recommend this if you are looking to save a LOT of money!

  • Very helpful book.

This book is very helpful for any accounting student and gives a very good array of examples that help illustrate ideas to students. The book also has a large amount of problems and questions that can help re-enforce material and can help you figure out what you may have a problem with. My professor only works with this book, and for a good reason: it's the best book for accounting students.

  • Intermediate Accounting

Intermediate Accounting is very expensive that costs about $160.00 for used edition ($200 above for new one). The book weighs more than 6 pounds (1,440 pages). That is very heavy book to bring to anywhere. But this book includes many detail accounting information, most students and employed accountants can find the basic knowledge from their reading. Good luck! Have a nice accounting experience!
