Great Historical Novel
Melanie brought these two aviators to life for me. She told us the story of what these two went through together from their meeting in Mexico to his burial in Hawaii. Although technically a work of fiction she made the story real by making these two American heroes real. She showed us their brilliance and their flaws by delving into their real history and presenting it to us in a way that we, the reader could relate to. Lucky Lindy was more than a famous pilot and he certainly wasn't a good husband of father but he certainly was a tortured soul. Melanie makes us realize that fame and fortune comes with its own set of problems and how they suffered with those problems. Definitely recommend this book to others - great book club discussions.
This book was assigned by my book club - I found the book to be very well written and interesting. Although Charles L. achieved fame throughout the world as the first person to fly alone across the Atlantic Ocean, he was something of a dictator where his wife and children were concerned. I believe he loved his wife, Anne, as much as he was capable of loving her - but his first two loves were flying and himself. Hounded by the press and photographers, Anne was unprepared for life with Charles - but she handled it well. Kudos for having an affair in her fifties with a man who loved her for herself. A very good read...my final impression was "beware of and avoid famous men who can also be quite quirky"This book was assigned by my book club - I found the book to be very well written and interesting. The Aviator’s Wife
It was historical and very enjoyable reading. The author writes in such a way that you can get involved with the wife’s emotions.

Engaging and Interesting
This is a great book that is hard to put down! Reading historical fiction is a bit confusing and leaves me compelled to read a work of historical nonfiction on the Lindberghs. Melanie Benjamin is an excellent writer and I enjoyed the book, nonetheless.
