    An interpretation to enjoy

    Kahlil Gibran was a multi gifted man. Not only did he write beautiful thought provoking poems, he did his own artistic interpretations as well. He was from Lebanon. He was popular in the 60's, when there were coffee shops and hippies did readings of their own and others. I had The Prophet as a larger book and even the little pocket edition. I also gave it to others, frequetly, as gifts. When I saw this CD of Richard Harris doing Gibran's poems, I had to have it. I listened to it and I think Richard did an excellent job. He did alot of Shakespear and was nominated for 2 Oscars for movies in which he starred. If you enjoy poetry, If you enjoy actors doing interpritive works, you'll not find any better than Richard Harris. For you, I would highly recommend this. In our era, however, ...

    A classic in every way!

    This recording is one I remember hearing many years ago. While some may say the musical parts sound dated, I was happy to hear it again and realize how well it still works. For anyone who loves the work of Kahil Gibran, and especially THE PROPHET, this is a treat not to be missed. I have heard three diffrent recordings of this classic book and this one still captures the energy, the spirit and the vibrant messages of life scripted by Gibran. The level of recording is great and this is a great item for anyone trying to figure out their place in life, their fellowship with friends and family and other times of great wondering. This is one of those books that should be required reading in high school or at least college because it tackles many issues of just living and surviving day to day. I ...

    The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran featuring Richard Harris and music by Arif Mardin

    Gibran's genius and Richard Harris' artistic presentation backed by Mardin's unique powerful music make this a must have. Been on a quest for years to find this rare CD. Obviously, I am grateful and pleased.

    Wonderful Presentation of a Beautiful Work

    I purchased this as an LP many years ago and was delighted to see that it has been recorded on CD. I now have it on my iPod and enjoy listening to it often. The wisdom contained in Gibran's writings combined with Harris' voice and beautiful background music make this a wonderful recording. While it is an abridged version of the book, it is still VERY worthwhile. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

    A Spiritual Journey filled with wisdom

    The Prophet is the greatest work of Kahil Gibran. the history of this story is incredible. It is the only one of his books of this caliber. This book will reveal more every time you hear it, It is NOT a one time book, it is meant to be re read over and over. I haver owned the Book, The Cassette and now the cd. I have given this story as a gift to a large number of people. Richard Harris is absolutely the best reader of this book. Needless to say, It is my favorite story of all time, I have been listening to it since the 1970's when I started on a spiritual journey. This book lead the way to the belief I have today. What you need to know before reading this book it that its about a Missionary who is dropped on an island to teach the people, he becomes the student and when it is time ...
