Product Information

All that glitters isn't gold. In Power Stone, our heroes were looking for a shiny wish granting gemstone in fact. This time around, the old cast is joined by four new regulars as they battle their way though a mysterious floating castle that appeared one day. Some combatants were captured, others went out of their way to get onboard, but the only goal now is to escape. Four is an important number in this sequel. Not only are four new characters added to the roster, but the action has been expanded to encompass four-player simultaneous battling as well. Indeed, you'll have to put the kibosh on two of your opponents to advance to the next level with the other character left standing in tow. This can come in handy against the two boss characters since it's two-on-one rather than one-on-one in the default mode. The levels have been enlarged to make the four-player action more smoothly flowing and spread out. Extra elements like falling away floors, elevators, raging fires, and more weapon emplacements and items to use in your fight has been stuffed into Power Stone 2 for the sake of the extra players as well. The added space and increased variety of levels available also has the extra side effect of toning down the powered-up state in Power Stone. The tracking jump kick from Power Stone is gone in Power Stone 2. In versus mode, the players can pick teams and duke it out between each other. This also introduces the concept of team attacks. Two players on the same side can team up to do a dangerous attack kind of like the attacks you get from bouncing off a wall. The other new fighting feature is the ability to give any fallen character CPR if you act within a set amount of time. This option lets you trade a bit of your life with the downed player so you both can get back to fighting for a little while longer at the least. Capcom has included several modes in Power Stone 2. You have the four-player battle Arcade mode (which is the default), One-on-One mode, and Original mode that lets you select various multi-player match ups like three-on-one for multiple players. Then there's Adventure mode which takes advantage of Capcom's desire to plug extra replay into their games. In Adventure mode, what you find, you keep. You can earn money and items to buy, sell, or combine at the store that allows you to create or gain new items. When you earn an item, you can keep it; and in the case of some special items, you can use them to customize your character's appearance.

Power Stone 2: Untold Innovations
I have played this game at my friend's house for years now, and it does not cease to amaze me. The graphics are incredibly impressive for the Dreamcast, and it runs perfectly smoothly with unnoticeable frame rate issues even when the game gets particularly hectic. It has a wide variety of characters to choose from that are mostly balanced with each other. Each have their own weaknesses and strengths that take a lot of time to master. The levels make the game truly shine and be truly unique; they have changing environments, so while the player is fighting his friends or the CPU's, he has to make sure he survives the shifting stages, which adds some elements of platforming to the game, as well as a layer of hectic survival. I am only giving this game a four because of its lack of a good story. There is somewhat of a story, but it is not a deep or compelling element to the game; if Capcom ever made a sequel to this gem and added a story as well as new elements and environments to the gameplay (well and improved graphics, of course) it would deserve something very close to a perfect rating. I have spent countless hours with my friends playing the game, in which there are the basic attacks you can perform against the enemy, but have a Super Smash Bros.-like element with the Gems. If you collect three of these Gems before the other players, then your character launches into a form of super sayan that absolutely dominates the field. There are also a variety of weapons the player can pick up like poles and bats, etc. All these elements of shifting environments, deep and balanced gameplay, a variety of characters, and the super moves add up to one of the greatest fighting games ever; it's like the older brother of Super Smash Bros. that is personally better than smash ever was.

Power Stone 2 Review
I love this game. It has a lot of extras, and great multiplayer. (Kind of better than Smash Bros.) However, the disc had some very deep scratches. I got the disc resurfaced, and it works fine on the Dreamcast, but it still freezes mostly when I try to load certain characters, and other things, but I do understand this disc has been used a lot from time to time. Best 3D arena game for its time
Dreamcast launched an excellent series I wish sega could have kept up with. This was a revolution of a fighting game for this console. Forget those 2d backgrounds, his game utilizes all its surroundings!! Hands down a great game and worth trying out if you haven’t.

A forgotten Capcom classic.
Power Stone 2 is one of Capcom's forgotten classics, it's fast paced, very well designed & way too much fun. A true arcade classic that won't take you half a year to beat & is even more fun with friends, any Capcom or Sega Dreamcast fan should play this game.

The game is an excellent fusion a 3-d animation and fighting game engineer. Lots of effort and a provocative style make this a must own. The replay value is enormous and with 4-player capability there is potential for family and friends to interact and enjoy this game for years. Provided the game last that long the Power Stone 2 game is very delicate, not knowing the lifespan. I disgruntled at capcom for having to purchase this game three time already. If you can make a copy of it when it works it is cost effective but be warned to take very good care of it.The game is an excellent fusion a 3-d animation and fighting game engineer.
