    Great item, easy to flow through library, apps and internet.

    This is one of the first Kindle Fire as these went all the way up to 10. This is the second generation which has 8gb of storage, but does not have a option for a micro sd card to expand the storage space. Given that, you can have a lot of books in your library, particularly if you use a program like Calibre which even converts epub or pdf to the Kindle mobi version. It is a good idea to keep your apps limited and use them on a laptop or tablet as they can eat up storage space. The Kindle uses it's own web browser, but you can switch to one of your choice like Chrome or other. In reading books on this device, I switched to a black background and larger text as that is easier for me, particularly for reading when in a unlit area.     awesome product, awesome platform, awesome price!!!

    amazing, I bought this for my wife who wanted a i pad but I could not afford to buy the i pad, so I started looking for a less expensive version. she just wanted a tablet platform that she could play her facebook games on and download the popular apps she wanted. at first this was discouraging as we bought multiple tablets and had to return them because either the android opperating system wouldnt play the games or some crazy platforms set up. finally we decided to give the kindle fire a shot, our last hope & when we got it we were impressed by the style of the kindle fire and the crystal clear touch screen it boasts. the gingerbread platform is easy to use and understand for the most part, the games play for the most part the only issue we have found is activating flash for one game. ...

    Good for book-lovers, not for apps and game addicts!

    This is the first generation model of the Amazon Kindle Fire and since then, a lot has changed. What I loved about this model (compared to my Kindle Touch) is that it has a backlight (and I can read without the need of a light source), it has really good graphics and color, it is quite fast and it is organized for my own leisure. I also liked the way the page flips as if its a book, the way files are displayed (very friendly), the parental controls and the available free apps and games in the Kindle Store. What I don't like, however, is it is pretty heavy compared to my Kindle Touch or any other device I've had (apple products). The memory allocation is also too little as about 1 gb is allotted for apps and the rest is for books and other files. The limitation of having to purchase ...

    Great Product! Perfect Counter Top Companion for Kitchen & Craft Space!

    First off, I would like to say I got a very good deal on this leading me to purchase it sooner than I would have. That having been said, this is just the greatest little gadget little old retired me could have. I bought this primarily to use in the kitchen both for my entertainment while preparing lengthy meals as well as to use for recipes and other food prep and store instructions. I had tried using my laptop, but it was just too large to be of any real convenience.     Great cust. svc. No camera. Google Play cards don't work on it.

    I bought this used as a first tablet for my son. I didn't realize that it had no camera. I didn't realize that any apps or games you buy for the kindle must be purchased through the kindle app store. Google Play gift cards do not work - even though it is an Android device. So we have $55 in gift cards we can't use. Otherwise, it seems to be a good tablet. Customer support is GREAT! The charger quit working. After patiently working with me to determine the problem, they sent us a new charger and power boost adapter free of charge.
