Product Information

Based on the Japanese anime, Vampire Hunter D puts you in the shoes of the silent but strong hero D. The year is 12090 AD and vampires have reigned over humans for the last 10,000 years. Yet humans are finally beginning to overcome their oppressors and vampires are on the verge of extinction. <br><br>Half human, half vampire hunters known as Dunpeals are in high demand to exterminate the remaining vampires. Dunpeals are often well paid, since vampires kidnapping humans is commonplace now. D, the most masterful of the Dunpeals, is hired for 2.5 million dollars to rescue Charlotte Elbourne from her undead kidnappers. <br><br>Vampire Hunter D features polygonal characters set within pre-rendered backgrounds that mimic the world seen in the anime. Dark and gothic medieval themes are combined with sci-fi elements such as futuristic weapons and vehicles, creating a world which vampires have all but destroyed. The majority of the game takes place within a mansion where vampires and their followers reside. In addition to using D's huge sword, players will attack monsters using darts, grenades, flash bombs, and D's demonic hand, which can heal as well as inflict damage.

Nice Game, Excellent Anime
Vampire Hunter D is a pretty decent game for the Playstation. You will play as D and your mission is to save John Elbourne's daughter Charlotte from Meier Link(head hancho villain) before she turns into a vampire. D has to find keys to access certain areas and solve puzzles too. The graphics are nice for what the Playstation has to offer as well as the music. D gets different power-ups to perform special moves as well as heal himself. Vampire Hunter D has its fair share of blood when taking out the enemies. I have to admit, the bats can be a real pain in the butt. Especially if they are in groups. The game has potential and could have been better, but it's playable and will do fans of the anime justice. Vampire Hunter D - Resident Evil meets Anime!
This game was revolutionary (possibly) for it's time, but however the feel of the game is plain weird. Unlike most games where you hit left and you move left, and right makes you move right, you turn that way. We've seen this kind of movement feature in such games as Resident Evil, and it worked out great because you have a gun. But here, I fear you have a sword. The slow turning rate really defeats the purpose of being capable of easily dispatching foes not because of D's outrageous skill or strength, but because he turns like a rusty screw. Given, there is the capability to dodge, evade attacks, and turn around instantly giving more versatile movement but that is really only one of it's saving graces. Okay, now into the gameplay. You're D, you've been paid a lot of money to go find this ... This game was revolutionary (possibly) for it's time, but however the feel of the game is plain weird. This game's storyline follows that of the second anime movie "Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust" but only to about a 60% accurate scale. Keeping in mind this is a very old game: Sound: 7/10 [Fairly Generic, but can't really be helped] Music: 7/10 [Again, pretty generic] Animation: 8/10 [Actually pretty darn smooth, except when his cape glitches through his body] Gameplay: 4/10 [Movement system is fail. Period.] Overall: 6.5 But still. If you're a Vampire Hunter D fan, it's cool just to have it as an art/conversation piece. I mean - who gets to say when someone references Vampire Hunter D, "Yea. I beat that game." Besides, the CD looks downright sexy in it's ultra purple unique glow. Overall, despite how much the movement system really doesn't meet my tastes - or rather anyone's I've let try the game - I think I love the Vampire Hunter D franchise far too much to think this game sucks. May as well try it, it's not that expensive. Go look into the books, and dig up the anime! :D

Good game and great price.
I'm a fan of Vampire Hunter D,and was happy they had made a game of it. Control's a lot like the Resident Evil games on the PS1.Graphics are a little choppy but still a good game.
