Edward Neumeier--co-scribe of ROBOCOP and the original STARSHIP TROOPERS--comes back for round 2 with HERO OF THE FEDERATION, in which a group of soldiers do battle with the ugly bugs in an abandoned outpost. Finally, Van Dien returns after over a decade for the second sequel to the original alien-bug-battling, action-packed splatter-fest satire. More gee-whiz WWII media-and-soap opera parody is on hand when the celebrated Colonel Johnny Rico (Van Dien) finds himself put on death row for acting inappropriately during battle. But when a Federation starship piloted by tough soldier babe Lola Beck (Jolene Blalock, ENTERPRISE) crashes on a far-away alien planet, only the bug-squashing Rico can save the day, and so the authorities have no choice but to release him for the mission. Armed with an impossibly advanced weapon known as the Marauder, Rico and his crew are prepared to exterminate by any means necessary. MARAUDER marks the directorial debut of regular series writer Neumeier.

Starship Troopers Trilogy
Starship Troopers is based upon the book of the same title by Robert Heinlein. all are set in the future when Earth is at war with "bug like" inhabitants of another planet. The first movie follows the story line of the book fairly well although, as usual, the book was much better than the movie. The book was albe to devote more efort to character development and setting the scene for action. The movie had to move into the action much more quickly. The second and third movies of the trilogy are based upon the first movie. They continue the saga of the continuing war against "the bugs." Special effects are good with lots of violence against the bugs. Story line in the first movie was good as it was based on the book. The sequels were not as interesting (in my opinion) though they ... Heinlein seemed to be glorifying the Fascist form of government which rules the Earth during the war against the bugs. All things considered, the movies are entertaining for fans of science fiction and for Heinlein fans if they don't mind a few liberties being taken with the original work. I already have volumes one and two and decided to bid on the set instead of on volume three seperately. Glad to have the boxed set.

i fell in love with the first movie for ist outstanding acting. The violence in the movie was done with taste. however, the socond movie was slightly dissapointing due to the "overdone" nature of the gore and extreme violence. It was more like masters of horror that a famed sci-fi film. the whole hour and a half screamed that it was done in haste. the third was better that the second by far, but still, it wasnt good enough. there just wasnt enough of the maurader mech suit to do the cover justice, i think that the whgole scene was only about 5 minutes. even though they dished out some serious damage in that amout of time, it just wasnt enough. im not satisfied with the other two movies at all. i'll stick to the first one thank you very much.i fell in love with the first movie for ist outstanding acting. The First Movie is good, the other two...OMG... !!!
I've bought this movie set because of an excellent book written by Robert Henlain 50 years ago ! The first movie is good and brings a lot of good memories. The other two and especially the 2nd one which is horrible low budget horror with poor acting and crappy storyline. The third one has Casper van Dien back, and it's interesting to see some things tied to the first movie. But other than that, I'm sure I'll not watch it again. All those discs contain a digital copy so you can transfer it to your computer or a player which is nice. I paid $18 including shipping for this set and it's not worth it, the first movie can be purchased for less than $9 shipping included.
