Product Information

Ridley Scott's romantic thriller stars Mimi Rogers as ravishing New York socialite Claire Gregory and Tom Berenger as blue-collar police detective Mike Keegan. After Claire witnesses a high-profile murder, Mike is among the rotating group of detectives assigned to protect her.The simple, straightforward cop is awed both by Claire's beauty and by the endless rooms of her lavish apartment. A quiet attraction develops between the two, but neither of these otherwise committed people is willing to act on it. However, the detective's wife, Ellie (Lorraine Bracco), realizes what's happening and reacts accordingly. When Mike accompanies Claire to a museum benefit one evening, the killer, Joey Venza (Andreas Katsulas), confronts her in the ladies' room. He threatens to kill her if she identifies him in a police line-up the next day and then turns himself in to the police. Although she goes through with the identification, Venza is released on a technicality, and Claire nows needs protection more than ever. Bracco is wonderful as the cop's spirited wife.

    Fabulous movie

    This is a movie I had been trying to find for a very long time. I couldn't find it anywhere. I gave up for a while. So I thought why not try eBay, and to my delightful surprise I found it. This movie is in my top 5 favorites Thank you eBay.

    Unsung Masterpiece

    An overlooked masterpiece produced by a Frenchman so it has to be good. Tom Berenger is dreamy. Mimi Rogers is gorgeous. Lorraine Bracco gives an Oscar-worthy performance. Shows the two sides of NYC women -- exactly as they are (the bird-in-a-gilded cage uptown gal and the real-life can-do Queens gal.) Who wins the delectable Tom Berenger? See the film!

    Murder, suspense, romance all wrapped up in one.

    Loved this movie years ago. So glad to find it again on DVD as I already had it on VHS tape. Great characters and a young Tom Berenger! Very suspenseful and also a great romantic plot development at the same time.

    GREAT STORYLINE~~GREAT ACTING~~HIGHLY RECOMMEND~~ONE OF MY FAVORITES

    Excellent suspense/thriller/romance film. I have watched this film at least 1/2 doz. times, but I never get tired of seeing it, so finally I bought the dvd, and I am so glad I did. Tom Berenger is great, as usual. Mimi Rogers is the absolute epitome of class and so beautiful~~great actress. Jerry Orbach, as usual, is great. This one is a keeper and I would highly recommend it for those who enjoy the type of movie that it is. Great movie~~great acting~~couldn't ask for more.

    Great romantic thriller!

    It isn't often that you hear those two words together... "romantic" and "thriller." It is hard to imagine the two walking hand in hand. But they do here. And they do it well. This is a wonderful story of an officer who is sent to watch over a woman to protect her. Through all the attempts on her life and the mayhem, somehow they connect to form a special bond. This is a truly wonderful love story set amid chaos.
