As the large-scale online battles rage on in the main game, this first add-on for Digital Illusions' shooter sequel deploys highly trained soldiers to perform tactical maneuvers around strategically critical equipment and locations. Reminiscent of the theme of the original Battlefield 1942 expansion, Secret Weapons of WWII, Special Forces focuses on experimental weaponry, high-tech gadgets, and specially qualified operatives. Players can fight as one of six types of special forces soldiers: U.S. Navy SEALs, British SAS operatives, Russian Spetznas, MEC operatives, or specialist rebel insurgents. With such commandos in its starring roles, the game features more clandestine, small-squad missions, though it still supports the main game's multiplayer gameplay, with as many as 64 human competitors in the same online battlefield.

Good Addition to BF2
A nice addition to Battlefield 2. New weapons added as well as special forces tools such as a grapling hook and zip line. I really like the grapling hook. It allows you to get on buildings that in regular BF2 you could not. This tool is given to the assault guys, though I feel that the sniper should have got this tool instead of the zip line. If the sniper had the grapling hook, it could go to better shooting platforms. Since everyone has a chute they could always get down to move to another position. Don't get me wrong the zip line is cool and does allow for quick movement across the map and to other hiding places. The maps are filled with nooks and crannys to hide in. Much more so than BF2. Some maps are set at night and the night vision is pretty cool. Got to watch out for ... A nice addition to Battlefield 2. That is another new tool that is fun to use, just be careful where you throw it as it can temporarily blind you, your buddies as well as the enemy. Another fun tool is the tear gas launcher which is given to the support guys. It's a nasty tool that makes your vision all fouled up and makes you cough. It can be countered with a gas mask, but sometimes people forget to put it on. Overall, I like the new maps. There seems to be something for everyone except jet pilots. Helicopters are available on some maps. There are two new choppers. The Russian Hind and the US Apache. Both seem fairly deadly as they kill me often! LOL I feel that it was worth the $29.95 for the game. Not to mention it gives you new unlocks for vanilla BF2!

Great add-on to BF2
I've been playing BF2 for some-time now. I'm a big fan of online multiplayer FPS. I bought Special Forces for all of the weapon unlocks that come with it. There are also many extra vehicles you can use (ie: jetski, quad, and off-road buggies). Many new maps are also included. One map is a night map and u get to use NightVision, which is cool. After installing it and playing for a while there were many other items that I found usefull in game. Like the zipline which allows you to zipline from roof tops to very nice hidding spots. Which is usefull if you play the sniper kit alot. All-in-all the Bf2 Special Forces Expansion pak is a great addition to the game. I highly recommend it. Fun Online Play
The game is a cast off from Battlefield 2. You have to have Battlefield 2 installed on your computer to play Battlefield Special Forces Expansion Pack. The game adds (6) stand-alone Missions. Battlefield two is a first-person shooter but is mainly an online game. I liked Battlefield 2, so I bought the Expansion Pack. Fred.

Battlefield 2 SF's weapons a welcome addition
FOR ME at least, the ONLY reason I purchased BF2SF was to get the additional weapons for BF2. For an expansion it is decently priced, but it is essentially a separate game from BF2 - you can't play BF2SF maps when you have just plain old BF2 loaded up. I only played SF once, just to get the additional weapons loaded in, and I haven't played it since. I recommend just doing the account swap thingy to get the extra weapons if they are your only goal, if you want to play the extra maps, extra abilities, and all the other extras exclusive to SF, then by all means - buy away!FOR ME at least, the ONLY reason I purchased BF2SF was to get the additional weapons for BF2. If you enjoy playing first-person shooter games you will love this! It's loaded with action and includes all of the cool stuff the special forces guys use like zip lines, grappling hooks, tear gas and flash bangs. This has a load of really cool maps and new armies to try out. You'll need a fairly robust computer to play but once you start you'll be hooked.
