Product Information

Need for Speed: Carbon is ready to take you to the heart of underground racing. Set in the outskirts of the city, you begin by declaring a class allegiance, picking your crew, and finally, deciding which of the 50 tunable cars you want to make your own. Select a tuner, American muscle, or exotic car, and then begin your ride to the top. You may also use the "Autosculpt" feature to create a completely customized car if no existing car suits your needs. Selecting your crew is important because each member has a special skill that can help you make it to the finish line first. For example, a scout can find hidden short cuts, and a blocker can create a distraction. <br><br>Despite being forced by police to race in Carbon Canyon, the rivalry is just as fierce and the stakes are at an all-time high. The game features four areas of urban and rural pavement, and each environment is broken into sub-zones of drift, street, and duel racing for a total of 80 tracks. As you begin winning races, you will also earn territory within the city. Start losing races, and the territory is given back to the rival crew. To completely take over another group's turf, you must defeat their boss in a race. Multiplayer action is available through the Internet for gang, one-on-one, and canyon battles.

    Need for Speed Carbon

    I would class this game as a must play although Need for Speed Carbon isn’t that different when compared to Underground or Most Wanted. It draws the two games’ elements together while adding a few new features. The graphical improvements are minor but welcome, such as the improved speed blurring which is more of a defined speed blur now. The musical tracks don’t quite live up to the same standard as the other games in the series as they’re quite easily forgettable, but on the upside there has been major improvements to the sounds of the car engines and the other racing sound effects. Likewise, the addition of crew members talking to you during the race can be both helpful and informative; if you haven’t already played Need for Speed Underground 2 and Most Wanted then give them a try; ...

    Not as good as NFS Most Wanted - Still good though

    NFS Carbon has its good points (3 styles of cars: Tuner, Exotic and Muscle) but it lacks some of the game points that NFS Most Wanted brought to the table. There are no real penalties for losing races, it's easy to elude the cops and it's very hard to earn any "extra" money for buying additional cars. Once you've won a race you have the option to run it again but it'll only be worth $500 if you win, this makes it tough to bankroll cash. The graphics are very nice but it would be better if some of the races were during the daylight hours install of "all dark, all the time". Career mode goes by much quicker than in NFS Most Wanted, I played last night for about 4 hours and I've alread completed about 20% of my career. Good game, just lacks a little of the character in Most Wanted. ...

    Great Racing Game

    This is another one of those Electronic Arts Need for Speed Releases. This game has nice story, the videos in there are excellent quality. The only thing is that the graphics are not as good as expected. It is actually less graphic then the previous release. The cars in there are nice and hooked up. Races and handling are great. Great Game, Recommended!

    A healthy blend from the last three NFS that kicks butt

    After playing the last three Need for Speed games (Underground 1 & 2 & Most Wanted) they took the best aspects and blended it into a fun and challanging title. I played it on the original Xbox and the graphics are alrigth. But the game play is the part that I enjoy the most. It's responisve and unique. The drift part of the game is different than underground 1 & 2 but makes for a more realist play. Overall, it's hard yet yielding a great sense of accomploisment after each race.

    Could have been better, but not bad.

    The whole new driving engine seemed like your car was lagging behind whenever you omved the joystick, but for drifting it was great. If you wanted to stop playing but the AI "challenged your territory" then you must race agaisnt them, instead of leaving. This got really annoying after awhile because if you didnt challenege them they won the race automatically and you would lose your territory. The graphics were as expected, good quality for the xbox but in no way measuring up to the 360. All in all a good game, but its not enitrely worth the price. Save your money, snag the xbox 360, then choose a different game.
