Product Information

When Eric Idle constructed a wacky spoof of The Beatles, dubbed them "The Rutles," and made a hilarious mockumentary in 1978 named ALL YOU NEED IS CASH, he spawned a huge cult of eager worshipers who longed to hear more from Dirk (Idle), Nasty (Neil Innes), Stig (Ricky Fataar), and Barry (John Halsey). In 2002 The Pre-Fab Four reunited, toured America, and invited trusted interviewer Dirk McQuickly (Idle again) on the road with them. Of course we meet many of the artists whom The Rutles influenced along the way, including David Bowie, Carrie Fisher, Garry Shandling, and even Salman Rushdie, as well as further capers with the band themselves.

    Like Most Sequels, It Falls A Bit Short

    Don't get me wrong--this is a worthy successor to "The Rutles." But it is a sequel, after all, and unless you are really into the wordplay and the spoofs and parodies of the Beatles, you may not be as enamored of this one as you were of the original. Still, as a Beatles fan, a Monty Python fan, and as one who admires send-ups of modern pop culture in general, I found watching this well worth my time and trouble.

    Rutles 2

    I was astonished that there was a sequel to the Rutles-All you need is Cash!!! I also wondered "what ever happened to the Rutles"? I like that some of the footage from "#1" is in "#2" and that the Rutles and Eric Idle show their age. Also that Jimmy Fallon and others remember the Rutles as real. Again the four moptops are amazing in this mocumentary! I concider this DVD and Rutles one a real hoot and a great addition to anyone who lovesother mockumentaries such as This is Spinal Tap.

    This is a very entertaining dvd! They do a great imitation of The Beatles! I highly recommend this dvd!!

    What can you say about the Ruttles?

    The Ruttles are the Monty Python equavalancy of what the Beatles were off camera. Great paradies of Beatles songs and the Beatles movies. This is a real great treat, as the first album "Meet the Ruttles" was just an apirizer. But if you like the Beatles, Monty Python, and British humour in general, you'll LOVE this DVD.
