If you are looking for an easy, carefree story with eye catching drawings and graphics, then this is not for you. .hack//sign is a classic in anime history that had helped created the genre of anime linked to online role playing games and their possible connections to the human soul. Without this title, stories like Sword Art Online would not even be in existence. The story is very mysterious because you have a wave master named Tsukasa who plays the online game called "The World" which was created after the Pluto's Kiss Virus destroyed government systems in all parts the world throwing it into chaos. It even destroyed the current version of the Internet that we know of today. After many years of recovery after the extreme data crash, a more confined version of the Internet was ... Well it doesn't take long for Tsukasa to realize they were unable to log out of the world after a strange instance in their memory though hazy and unstable. As time goes on, you learn about viruses infecting "The World" causing players to enter a comatose state in the real world when they are attacked. Soon enough, there are mentions of AIs forming self awareness whom have blended so well into society that they are frequently mistaken as players or hackers since they can manipulate and control data streams as they want. All of this comes together due to the fragments the original creator of the world "Harald Heorwick" and his black box he stored his data for the changes of this new world. These changes are dedicated to creating and nurturing his child he created due to the love he had for a poet named "Emma Wielant" who created the the "Epitaph of Twilight". This poem was lost except for some fragments Harald hid inside the world as a type of prophecy for the rebirth of "The World". This concept was not fully explained in .hack//sign due to this idea evolving over the entire .hack series. .hack//sign is where you see glimpses of this concept but it does not revolve entirely around Harald though he is mentioned many times later on. Now back to the story. Tsukasa learns about the wonders of this new world they were in and, due to this player's defiance and selfishness, they caused a lot of problems for their friends and "The World" itself. However, as time goes on, they learns about their mistakes and try to save this world they come to embrace as their own. This series hints at dark themes of bullying and child neglect as Tsukasa searches for who they are in their fragmented memories. With the help of Tsukasa's friends it is soon realized that whatever strange happenings occur in "The World" causes a ripple effect that affects even the real world they live in. It starts slow and a little confusing; however, it is a worth while watch. The music is tailored to give the series a mysterious and foreboding feeling as you learn more and more about the corruption of both "The World" and real life. The music is one-of-a-kind and I highly recommend playing the games and watching the other series attached to the .hack franchise to learn more about the amazing happenings in "The World".

.hack//SIGN
This series one of those that withstands the test of time. The story line is unique with a well developed plot and engaging characters that bring the viewer into the story. The artwork is well above average and the soundtrack is so good that it could easily stand all by itself. Overall this is a wonderful series for all and I highly recommend it.

I was in England when this purchase was made....I can only guess it had to be teenage related, so since my credit rating was tampered with in a negative sort of way, I'm leaving poor reviews........Touché
