  • Sure Is A Big Book Now!

The relative completeness of the guide is a plus. But it's frustrating to have any artists excluded. The format is a minus - at least until I get used to it. It's good to group LP's under one artist by Label - but maddening to separate albums of the same title for any reason. Why not just do it alphabetically or by release date? Also- plan on reading glasses for this type size. Could be bolder at least Tim! Sure is a lot of research and a lot of pages for the price! Hope it's close on true values!

  • Goldmine Record Album Price Guide (2007) by Tim Neely

This is an ongoing book for me, and I wanted the updated version (I had the last one dated 2003) to see the current prices of my LPs. I am both a collector and a record dealer, so it helps to know what a record is worth, even if it is only a guide. For the most part, the LPs have remained stable in value, but this edition also picks up LPs issued 2003-2007 as well. I appreciated the format change from three columns (according to record condition) to only one column. The three columns were not needed, as the first two columns were just set percentages of the last one anyway. The extra space allowed more LPs to be listed.

  • Lots of info for true collectors

For most people, the prices in this book are simply a mirage, never to be reached. That's because they're for "near-mint" albums. In my experience, the vast majority of LPs were never that good, even when fresh from the store. But the book truly is a gold mine of information about American LPs and those pressed for marketing in the U.S. Not so much for imports, where there's really no guidance at all. To get the prices or even anything close to it, you'll need to go to specialty sites like Gemma, because eBay is more like the yard sale, while Gemma is the record boutique. Somebody else complained about the organization, but for some artists, a record on one label is worth far more than the same one on another label, so separating titles according to labels is about the only way to go.

  • The Best Starting Source For Vinyl Record Collectors.

Goldmine Record Album Price Guide is by far the best way to price your collection, weither you are a seasoned collector or just beggining! This particular guide contains over 70,000 of the most popular albums from 1948 to 2007, all with price stock info, some with color photos. Although they state themselves that this book is NOT a definitive guide, I highly treasure and love my Goldmine Books and I always consult them first when buying or selling Vintage Vinyl Records!

  • Not bad, but there are better

Goldmine is pretty good but I would only use this pricing guide as a suppliment to fill in the wholes of the Jerry Osborne pricing guides. Goldmine does dabble into soundtracks which is nice and they do cover some of the compilation records but the layout isn't nearly as good as Osbornes 18th guide. I say buy this one, but dont use it as your end all be all for pricing your records.
