The eighth game in the King's Quest series, King's Quest: Mask of Eternity introduces players to a new character, Connor, in the land of Daventry.<br><br>To summarize the plot, Connor's entire village, along with the prosperous Castle Daventry, are turned to stone. Just before the stoning occurs, a golden shard of the Mask of Eternity lands at Connor's feet, sparing him the fate of all around him. He must search the land through seven tough worlds to find the four missing pieces of the Mask of Eternity and put them back together. <br><br>King's Quest: Mask of Eternity boasts a number of features including a revolutionary 3D action engine, real-time combat, first- or third-person points of view through seven different worlds and puzzles inherent to the King's Quest series. The game puts emphasis on the mental aspect rather than physical with solution of puzzles playing a crucial role in the game.<br><br>This does not, however, mean the game is without physical aspects. A feature not found in other King's Quest games, real-time combat, has been added to King's Quest: Mask of Eternity almost giving it a Quest For Glory feel. So, don your armor, heft your broadsword and fletch your bow! Only you, Connor, can save your friends, family and all of Daventry by fixing the Mask of Eternity!

    A dark sequence of departure for fans. Avoid!

    I bought this game for the same reasons that bring you to look at this review. From the outside the cover looks like another game in Roberta Williams' series. Personally though I found the title and packaging very misleading in presenting this very different style of game. I will describe the beginning of this game as I believe it gives the best perspective on what to expect. When the 'Mask of Eternity' breaks in the intro to this game, so does this game cease to remain true to the King's Quest series. In this beginning sequence a shard of the 'Mask of Eternity' falls down in front your character, a peasant farmer, who's sister is slowly turned to stone right before him along with everyone in Daventry. He is then left to wander the now sickened land of Daventry that crawls with creatures ...

    Nice graphics, good adventures, will run in DOS-Win 3.1 et al.makes you thi

    As others have noted, this is a bit of departure from previous KQ games. The graphics are VG, vibrant, albeit the voice-over acting is a bit stoggy, over-done. That said, the game was fun to play the first few times, and aft 10yrs, ws still interesting up to a point. Lots of running around to do action quests, gaining gear you will need, BUT

    Great Game... but not made for newer computers

    The game is awesome. I've played it in the past and I just wanted to buy it to be able to play it again. Unfortunately, with newer computers, especially computers with vista, it doesn't work very well. Fortunately, I have an older computer as well as my computer with Vista so I can still play it, but if you don't it might not be worth buying.

    Teenage Fantacy Game

    Fun game for teenagers that enjoy fantacy games and enjoy doing quests through different level. Easy to learn and play.

    Hope for the best.

    I have never played this game before. I hope it is as fun as the Kings Quest games that I have played before.
