Great for singing, violin & flute!
I bought the Shure WH20XLR for singing while playing drum set and percussion. I quickly realized it also worked great for flute and violin. This is especially cool for a singing violinist, who demo'ed the head set in a session with us. She is going to buy one ASAP! It slightly picked up my breathing if I get winded while drumming, so I guess I'll excercise more! The sound is excellent. My only wish is if it had an on off switch on it somewhere, so that I could turn it off for songs that are exerting. I suppose I could just detach the connection though. I love the idea that it is wired and the wires runs out the back of the headset, which also comes with a clip for the wire to attach to the back of your shirt. It also has a very sturdy spring steel clip to attach the end of the ... I bought the Shure WH20XLR for singing while playing drum set and percussion. Shure Headset Microphone
The mic is light weight and produces great sound. However, being a right handed drummer, I prefer the mic boom to be on my left so I can adjust the boom with my left hand. The connector cable is very short and made to be used with a body pack not a mic cable. The mic is also very noisy when taking it off my head. I have to have someone mute the mic before I take it off or it sounds like explosions going off.The mic is light weight and produces great sound. Shure WH20XLR Headset Microphone
The one thing for sure is the volume, this mic in the headset is powerful for it's size, and does not feed back at all unless you go right into the speaker.Also the wire is padded with a croakie type of material so the wire does not hurt your ears. The only thing that did not match up was the wind screen, you can not put it on like they did in the picture,cause it will easilt fall off. I just put it on all they way so as not to fall off easy, clipped the clip to the back of my shirt, and clipped the other clip to my pocket, connected 10' 3 pin mic cord sound check and I was ready to go. You will love it, and think "dang", "why did I wait so long to buy it", like I did. Good hand free mic.
The WH20XLR is overall well-built except for the wind screen which can fall off easily. The sound is good at mid and high frequencies but understandably not as good at low frequencies compared to a hand held Shure microphone such as the SM58. It is a good microphone for back-up vocal when you need your hands for other instruments.

Very shure-cure fit and good sound.
The croaky back head strap is adjustable for tension and provides an excellent secure and comfortable hold for dynamic use. I am using it to background sing while playing the drums. Even comparing it to my sm58 this mic is quite acceptable and offers impressive sound delivery and sweat protection for such a small cartridge. I wish they offered an SM 35 version like this with the croakie and The Sweat Protection but that product line caters to the lead singers who don't sweat but is a slightly better mic. I believe the $300 Michael Jackson version does it all but was way out of my price range. XLR connector has a solid clip for the belt and the cord has a lapel clip for the shirt This one is quite good and could be used for lead.The croaky back head strap is adjustable for tension and provides an excellent secure and comfortable hold for dynamic use.
