    GREAT classic film -- and check out the Lovells' audio commentary, too!

    This Anniversary edition of the now-classic movie Apollo 13 is worth buying just for the extras. If you have ever wondered exactly how accurate (or not) certain scenes might be, then listen to the audio commentary by Jim and Marilyn Lovell. You might be surprised that things you thought hokey (such as the scene where Marilyn's wedding ring flies off and down the drain) really happened. And yes, there are a few areas of artistic license, but, as Lovell explains, sometimes that is necessary for the sake of time constraints and to make things clear to the audience. Ron howard's directing does a great job of making the technical stuff clear while, at the same time, keeping us on the edge of ur seats.     Apollo 13 DVD

    I bought this dvd because my son is a space nut and this is his favorite movie. This two disc dvd set is amazing. Not only does it provide the original movie, but it also provides the Imax version and bonus materials. There are several interviews with the actual people involved in the Apollo 13 mission including Jim Lovell, Fred Haise, and Gene Kranz. You can actually watch the film with Jim and Marilyn Lovell commentating. There is also a special feature that shows the making of the movie and how they created the realistic looking shots that make it so amazing to watch. It has given me a whole new appreciation for space flight and what the crew of Apollo 13 went through. I would definitely encourage anyone remotely interested in space flight to purchase this dvd set.

    This movie is FANTASTIC and a joy to watch over and over and over!

    I actually bought this for my Dad, because he and my Mom rarely go to the movies, and I knew he would enjoy it. He very much enjoyed it. My husband and I LOVE this movie!! Whenever it comes on our movie channels, if we are able to just stop what we are doing, we sit and watch it over and over! We always cry when hear the static after the over 4 minute wait for the Apollo 13 crew to respond. When Tom Hanks speaks and says, "Houston, it's good to be home," we just clap and beam with joy that they are safe and sound and HOME~!

    Apollo 13 DVD, 2 Disc Anniversary Edition

    This is a great DVD set. It was filmed in IMAX format, and that seems to make it all the more excellent in presentation. The extras are fasinating and for anyone who loves this film they really explain and expand the scope of the film. Everything about this film is done on the highest artistic level, from the acting to the direction, filming. On top of everyting else, this movie is spell-binding no matter how many times you see it.
