Yes, that's how we lived and worked a half-century ago!
My recent acquision of Season 3 completes my "collection" of all 4 seasons currently available on DVD, so my review really applies to the show in general rather than specifically this season. I guess you have to be a person of "baby boomer" age to truly appreciate how accurately this show reflects the era. I understand that the producers go to great lengths to get it right, doing extensive research down to the smallest detail, and they have succeeded. My first real office job in New York was in 1964 and I can attest to the fact that things were just as portrayed. The smoking, the clothing, the "politically incorrect" language and attitudes (of course, long before that concept existed)... that's the way it was. The music, the historical events, ... Each season cost me about 15 dollars, a very good deal considering that's what you'd pay for a single movie on DVD. I am looking forward to more.

Mad Men Going Mad
This entire series is a deja vu for those of us who actually lived through this pivotal period of American history. Mad Men has captured it all with unblinking accuracy. I can't believe how TRUTHFUL it is! They pull no punches and expose the dark underbelly of America's swaggering hypocrisy during that era. It's a historical document, and it's every bit as brilliant and telling of our struggles and growing pains as Downton Abbey is to the British. The overt, unapologetic sexism and racism was a horrible system to live under if you were anything other than a white male. So, of course there was a women's movement! Of course there was a civil rights movement! No one was wiling to live under such an oppressive system any longer. Season three is almost painful to watch as Don Draper and company ... They slide deeper and deeper into debauchery while lusting after money, power and sex. There's no place to go but down with such an agenda. You can hear the walls crack as their lives begin to crumble and shatter. Human frailties are very much on display in season three and there's a little bit of all of us in each of these characters. Five stars *****. This is a work of art!

Great Show you will love and get addicted to it:)
Great show!! If you like Six Feet Under, Sopranos, and many other of the AMC shows you will like this one as well. This show has great writing and I hope to see it continue for several more seasons. My wife loves John Hamm as well :)

Best of First Three Seasons!!
The best of the first three seasons! The characters' advance, the plots thicken, the intricacies of the dynamics deepen and pull you into their web. The acting continues to be superb and gets better as the actors live within their characters. The directing and writing are top notch. This buyer had just seen the season on Netflix and chose to purchase the season for collection and to view again -- it's that good!The best of the first three seasons! AMC continues to get it right
The first two seasons of Mad Men were spectacular. Watching the third season took all of two days as I shored up after work and watched until I could not keep my eyes open. Don Draper is as compelling as ever and the last few episodes were possibly the best of the whole series. High recommendations, and I look forward to the arrival of season four.
