Since the early '90s, it's been easy to find games from SNK's Samurai Shodown 2D fighting series in arcades on both sides of the Pacific. The games are known for fast action and colorful characters, each of whom wields a different martial arts weapon. Compiled for a 2009 release, Samurai Shodown Anthology for PlayStation 2 includes pitch-perfect emulations of all six Samurai Shodown arcade games to date, including Samurai Shodown 6, previously unavailable in North America. By playing the games, players can unlock additional content, such as artwork and original promotional materials.

    Very good deal! Great games in the bunch.

    Out of the 6 games in the Anthology SS2, SS4 and SS6 are my favorite. SNK took everything from SS2&3 that were good and combined it to make SS4. I suspect PLAYMORE reworked SS5 Special to create SS6. Originally SS5 Special was only released in a very small amount in Japan back when the MVS NEO GEO was still in the arcade and now a days goes for at least $500 for just the cart without the kit. I like 6 it's what 5 failed to do. I owned the original SS5 cart for my MVS system and to me it was boring so I sold it and the Anthology remake of 5 Special and calling it SS6 is GREAT! SS1 was the beginning to great success SS2 is the top tier of the game, SS3 is good lacks something I can't put my finger on but it's fun, SS4 is my favorite next to SS2, SS5 is boring to me and SS6 is very good!!!     Samurai Shodown Anthology (PlayStation 2)

    This is a great SNK fighting game. The thing that is good about this game is the price for the amount of games that it has in one disc.It's a compilation of 6 games that every versus fighting fan should have. It's a pretty simple basic game, the mission:to kick but. The downside for this game is that there's no Samurai Shodown V Special and as in the other SNK compilation games there's no unlockable artwork,character colors,endings or soundtracks which are important details in games that will make you play your game with more interest. Well, maybe the extra details will cost a lot more to the SNK company and the choose to leave them out to give us a better price.

    Samurai Showdown Anthology (playstaion 2)

    I Love this game it is a pretty complete collection of all the great Samurai Showdown(Spirits) game released in the US and some that have never been here before. The only problem i had with the game was that it came with the watered down part 5 with no Kill Moves the taken out or left out. Bummer but it is still a great collection and all the game are fun to go back and play. So if it's your time liveing the glory days of 2D fighters or your just interested in a fighting game with Samurai and ninjas kicking butt this is great and fun game pick up for both.

    Great arcade collection worth every cent i paid!

    This collection is great six games in one disc.Classic 2D fighting games at its best.Short load times tuff bosses lots of blood and a good variety of characters.Nice backround art and a much needed training mode.If you like beating up a friend this is the game you need. This collection in my opinion is better than any other collection released by snk playmore.The only thing i would have liked in it is a artwork gallery to view the endings other than that this title is a must have.

    best sword fighting game ever

    the thing i like the most about this game was that all tittles of the series was in one disk.i didnt have to get up everytime wanted to change the game all i had to do was just press a few bottoms. what i love i guess it would be the options you have to change the color of the characters cloths. what i dislike about it is that you are not able to play online agaist other people in the world that you have to play agaist the CPU or a friend if your lucky enought to have someone to play with you. but the reason why i have bought this game is that this are classic games and i have played this games when i was little and i wanted to have that again and play the best samurai shodown game ever (SSIV) but above all this is one of the best game/s ever.
