Indeed a legend in her own time, Lara Croft returns to home computers in 2006 with a new look, a new game, and a new developer. Revamped physics and an enhanced control scheme allow for more free-flowing action, while graphical improvements present a redesigned Lara who is immediately expressive, more believably proportioned, and as strikingly attractive as ever. Lady Croft's new look in Legend is based in part on 20-year-old British model Karima Adebibe. Lara now boasts smoother animations, a more realistic deportment, and a number of costume changes. The original Tomb Raider games were popular for their innovative blend of gaming styles as well as for their distinguished female lead, however, and this game is designed to return fans to the winning combination of 3D platforming, environmental puzzle-solving, and third-person shooting found in the blockbuster originals. While the storyline of Tomb Raider: Legend is told around the series' traditional "tomb raiding" action, Lara must also adventure through modern city levels, proving her acrobatic skill set is as applicable to skyscrapers and cement as it is to unforgiving wilderness and ancient architecture. New equipment, such as the grappling hook and communication device, offer new abilities. A number of vehicles become available along the way, as well, for special gameplay sequences. For the first time in the series, stalwart Eidos studio Crystal Dynamics (Gex, Legacy of Kain, Project: Snowblind) was developer of this Tomb Raider game, instead of the franchise's creator, Core. Tomb Raider: Legend
This latest installment in the ongoing Tomb Raider franchise has the most dazzling graphics to date. I've played every one since the first, and long-time fans will be bowled over by how gorgeous our heroine has become. As a granny with less than optimum dexterity, however, I found the game interface kind of a pain--Lara immediately turns to face whichever direction you clicked, no longer backing or sidling as was once possible. And the game only saves to checkpoints, so if you blow it 3/4 of the way through a tricky passage, you have to go back and repeat everything you did after the last checkpoint--including any dialog. But aside from that, there's much to like. Lara is now linked via a headset cam to her two cohorts, who contribute information and commentary as well as providing her a ... And in the middle of a chaotic firefight, while leaping about athletically and blasting everybody in sight with her unlimited-ammo pistols, Lara now has a slo-mo mode that gets you a great shot of her coming down from her leap while riddling the hapless bad guy with bullets. No blood or gore, however, and bodies quickly disappear. The story line is somewhat intriguing and features a hip, handsome bad guy, a friend from Lara's past who's become corrupted by a force of supernatural evil, and a mysterious and powerful artifact linked to King Arthur and his Knights. It tends to take second place to the game action, featuring of course plenty of collapsing ruins, firetraps, whirling blades o' death and the odd monster. If you've liked other installments in the game series, this one is a must-have.

Not a bad game
I liked playing this game because it was easy to control the movements of the character. It also has 3 levels,(easy, medium & hard). I play games more for the story element and scenery then the shootem up part. I get very agreviated if I have to spend to much time trying to kill the boss's. With the help of the walk through and having my level on easy, I was able to get through the game and enjoy the story, which was O.K.. The part I didn't like was trying to get the rewards, which alot of times were out of my way and pointless. It is annoying having to spend 5 min. just to get to a reward and then have to back track to continue with the game. Thankfully you didn't have to collect every reward to continue with the game. Very good if it loads and if you have a beefy system...
The graphics are excellent and the game play is nice. I believe I need more ram I have a bad stick and sent it off so I am only using 1 gb. I have a 256mb video card and a 3.0 GHz Pent. D processor from the 900 series. I'm figuring the ram is the issue why it is slow. I can play doom 3 at full settings and it's fine. But take note to follow the setup instructions and turn off virus protection and you may need to try another drive if you have more than one installed. I have not tried to install a dvd rom game before this one. So I don't know if all are this picky or not but I had a good bit of trouble. After looking on the net many others have had trouble loading this game in particular also. But it did eventually load.The graphics are excellent and the game play is nice. The attention to detail is fabulous and in fact it is this game that has really shone to me in terms of the fact which shows the potential of the PSP. It simply looks amazing and there is very little to complain about graphically. The only draw back with the PSP version is that you are limited to how much control you have over the camera. This means that you can only reset the camera to which direction Lara is facing which does become annoying on harder levels. The game has upped the ante from the puzzles in the past where you just had to pull across some blocks to get to a lever or something along those lines, you will actually have to think. Part of my thing was a series of slapping my forehead when you work out what you are meant to do, part of it was really enjoying the fact that this time round, the game is going to throw a number of spanners in your works. Traps and adventuring aside, there is plenty for those of us with itchy trigger fingers. Lara can handle a number of weapons with inclusion of throwing hand grenades. With a compelling storyline, drop dead gorgeous graphics and a real return to form, this is one game that if you had been put off the franchise then you simply owe it to yourself to find out why Lara and Tomb Raider was so awesome in the first place. I would have to give this one both thumbs up and say that it is a must have title .

A fresh start again for the old fans. A good one to try for the new people.
This is the awesome reboot of the famous series. Toby Guard, the original creator, is back, and for good. Even if you've got tired of the previous games of the series by this point, you most probably will be exhilarated by this title. Just try to keep your New Generation features turned off during some levels to avoid the bugs, and you will dive deep in the whole new world of Lara's adventures and history (sometimes literally). The new controls are much, much improved since the AOD, thes scenery is improved dramatically, and Mr.Folman has composed a hilarious soundtrack that literally struck a tear out of my eye (well, after googling the Ailein Duinn story). Meet new Lara's friends, enemies and sexy polygons =) But it's also a new development of the character, which will become evem more ... This is the awesome reboot of the famous series. On the other hand, if you have never played any Tomb Raider game before, this is obviously the best choice to get to know this legendary franchise. It's not so low-res as the original one (which you may even have trouble running nowadays), it's not as glitchy, as the one right before it, it supports modern joystics, and has a commendable storyline. In my opinion, it also has the best Lara's looks among the whole series (given the new technology level - yes, it would be nice to see Rhona Mitra in 10000 polygons, but it was impossible in 1997 - btw, you may want to see Rhona in the Doomsday movie, which is not bad if you like TR I guess).
