An Adam Sandler movie...starring Cary Grant!
This movie is hilarious and kept my interest. There wasn't any cussing, sex, or onscreen death, but for some reason I kept picturing Adam Sandler in the Cary Grant role. There are some plot points you may want to consider before deciding if this is really appropriate for young children. When the movie starts, Cary is a selfish, alcoholic beach bum (Adam Sandler in FIFTY FIRST DATES). The Japanese have invaded the Philippines (questionable whether it's OK to play World War 2 for laughs...unless you're a big HOGAN'S HEROES fan.) The Australian Navy is leaving, but they need a civilian to stay alone on an island and radio sightings of Japanese planes. They force Cary to do it by SHOOTING A HOLE IN THE SIDE OF HIS BOAT so he can't get away, then hiding lots of whiskey on the island. Every ... This movie is hilarious and kept my interest. Things really get crazy when Leslie Caron is also stranded on the island with seven little girls ages about 6 to 13. The 6-year-old is good at finding the hidden liquor and keeps Cary well-supplied. The 13-year-old gets a crush on Cary, so he pretends he wants to seduce her, which scares her off. The Japanese drop bombs very close to the girls. Leslie Caron is initially very uptight, but whiskey comes to the rescue once again. Thinking she's been bitten by a snake, Cary gets her drunk and sucks venom out of her leg, which is [intentionally? unintentionally?] erotic. This is followed by a weird conversation about how her blood tastes, and then they fall in love, which magically causes Cary to bathe and shave, and eventually become a hero. Yes, there are kids in this movie, but I think the ideal audience for this film would be people who like HOGAN'S HEROES, GILLIGAN'S ISLAND, and Adam Sandler. It would also help if you think the Australian Navy is run by jerks who don't value civilian lives.

I have a new favorite war movie
I bought this movie because I had seen a trio on the Lawrence Welk show perform the song that plays during the opening credits: "Pass Me By". It was a hoot! The movie was very enjoyable and, even though set in the days of World War II and did have some scary moments, it had a happy ending that I didn't see coming. (I hope that's not too much information!) I only buy DVDs (or VHS tapes) of movies that I intend to watch many times. This is that kind of a movie. It is a very good movie. The actors are excellent in their roles. I like the very movie much. I would recommend this toother people.

Great movie with Cary Grant.
Father goose was a very good movie with Cary Grant I enjoyed the movie very much the price of the movie I thought was a little high compared to other prices on eBay other than that it was okay.
