As the adventure begins, Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), an impulsive but good-hearted young man who lives on the dusty planet of Tatooine with his aunt and uncle, longs for the exciting life of a Rebel soldier. The Rebels, led by the headstrong Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher), are fighting against the evil Empire, which has set about destroying planets inhabited by innocent citizens with the Death Star, a fearsome planet like craft commanded by Grand Moff Tarkin (Peter Cushing) and the eternally frightful Darth Vader (David Prowse, with the voice of James Earl Jones). I get it all now
I was never into the whole "star wars thing" when it came out originally but years later and after blu ray had been invented these are the type of films it was made for I now have went out and purchased the prequel also. An epic of today , tomorrow and beyond.
This will date me! I went to the premiere of Star Wars at Leicester Square and was blown away by the sheer spectical of this film. Went on to see all the others, some are better than others. Anyway, armed now with a blu-ray player and surround sound it was great to recreate a film experience, which in my opion does not date. Great action, great sound, good story, who cares about the acting! Like other great movies I think this is one you just have to own. Nothing on tv? everyone out? great, slip the disc in grab a drink and help to destroy the baddies!!!! As they say " May the force be with you "This will date me!
