A Madrid waitress, Lucia (Paz Vega), is mourning the loss of her boyfriend Lorenzo (Tristan Ulloa), a young novelist who died suddenly under mysterious circumstances. Unable to come to terms with his death, she takes a trip to a Mediterranean island that he told her about long ago, thinking about the novels Lorenzo wrote and the way that his work moved her. In flashbacks Lucia remembers her passionate relationship with him, and tries to reconcile unresolved feelings while sorting through the events of the confusing weeks leading up to his death. Shifting time frames and memories combine with Lorenzo's stories and blur the activity of the present. Meanwhile, characters who may or may not be linked to her life with Lorenzo--Carlos (Daniel Freyre), Elena (Najwa Nimri), and Belen (Elena Anaya)--turn Lucia's stay on the island into an intriguing tangle of interconnected stories. SEX AND LUCIA, with its sultry eroticism, testing and questioning of fate and the unpredictability of life, and its brightly bleached beach scenes, is a winding, nostalgic journey. Complex, Sensual, Erotic, Tragic ................... BR
Okay so it may seem that lately all I've been renting is Sex Flix..... but that is not so I'm just really into Foreign Films that deal with Sexuality lately. ;^) yea right Sex and Lucia is kind of a Bizarre film. Everything ties in together so you definitely have to WATCH and READ the sub-titles. It actually starts at the end with Lucia talking on the phone to her boyfriend who has been suffering from depression lately, she leaves work to come home and find he is gone, she gets a phone call from the police while she is there regarding her boyfriend seems he was in a Car accident and she is unable to listen to anything else, she hangs up and runs.... just leaves. Her journey takes her to a Island where her boyfriend used to tell her about and there is where the tale gets sort of BIZARRE... ... Another thing what was up with the lighting??? It was SUPER DUPER BRIGHT at times blinding, the scenes where there were on the Beach is what I'm talking about. Some heavy sex scenes but done tasteful I thought, these 2 were in love and very happy to have found each other. There is an unfortunate accident which takes place that is never clearly explained just kind of left up to your imagination and is the reason for the boyfriends disappearance but it is real important to watch and read EVERYTHING in this movie, or you will be completely loss. Respectfully Reviewed

Without doubt, one of the sexiest films you will see!
Paz Vega (played the housekeeper in Adam Sandler's Spanglish). Obviously, before Sandler cast Ms. Vega in his film, he saw this one. Paz Vega nude ten or so times for a total of about five minutes is more than worth the cost of the film. The fact that she is a fine actress adds greatly. Watch the Behind The Scenes. I promise you, it will help you understand the film and the director's motivation. It was better for me the second time, as are most good films.
