Walt Disney was a man who wanted to preserve historical railroad equipment and allow new generations to not only view such equipment, but to actually use the steam locomotives and old railcars by riding them at the Disney parks. In addition to describing Walt Disney's personal interest in railroads, it also provides biographies of the locomotive engineers and other people that built and ran the railroads at Disney parks. The book, leather felt-lined bookcase, and the dust jacket are absolutely first class in every way. The quality of paper and the oversized thickness of the book boards provide the vehicles that deliver a message about Walt Disney's passion for steam locomotives and his goal to always do things in a first-class manner. Many photographs are used to tell the story, yet they are no so plentiful as to diminish the importance of the written story. It is a magnificent book that is as well written as it is beautiful; and it is beautiful. It certainly can be the centerpiece in any personal library or even a museum. I bought the book because I had seen a copy at the Disney store Times Square and was impressed by it. This is a first edition with special packaging, which is quite rare. Yet, even later editions tell the story and are works of art. I will display this book alongside my other artwork and it will thrill be as thrilling as the artwork.

The author, Michael Broggie lived the story starting as a young lad whose father was Walt's chief railroad engineer and designer of the fabled Disneyland Railroad. The first edition was published by Pentrex in 1997 and was limited to a few thousand which was quickly sold out. Great book!
It’s a wonderful book for me to purchase since I couldn’t find anyplace else to look for it on line/ in store, for better price. I’m reading it once in awhile and am in awe about how the story of Walt Disney’s experience with trains is a stupendous journey that lead from his scale toy trains to the full big size locomotive rides we enjoy in the theme parks today. This book fascinates, inspires, and is giving me the feeling to walk in Walt’s footsteps—or better yet railroad tracks—into being a wonderful train enthusiast and sooner to work with the real Railroad at Magic Kingdom one day! The schedule must be kept! Thank you for allowing me to purchase this neat book!It’s a wonderful book for me to purchase since I couldn’t find anyplace else to look for it on line/ in store, for better price. If you grew up with Walt Disney on Sunday evenings
Trains played a major role in Walt Disney's life and in the concept and development of Disneyland. This is an excellent book on how trains played a role in what we know as Disneyland.
