À propos de ce produit

Product Information

Cannons are hefty, difficult to maneuver, and explosive. So is Frank Cannon. He's a gruff ex-cop who may be losing his hair but not his hunger for justice--and gourmet cuisine. As a private detective he doesn't come cheap, but he certainly provides his clients with their money's worth, making wrongs right and eating criminals for breakfast. Playing the overweight gumshoe is William Conrad, one TV's most unconventional stars, who later went on to headline one-half of JAKE AND THE FATMAN (you can guess in which role). This collection presents the first volume of the 1970s series' debut season, bursting with daredevil car chases and dialogue so sharp it could cut through a T-bone steak.

  • Biggest thing on 70s TV

As a kid growing up in the 70s I remember watching this show.I've never seen it in reruns or on TV LAND,so I bought this.I don't remember this season-I guess I started watching in '72 or so.Here Frank Cannon drives a '71 Mark III Lincoln (with a car phone ,no less).I always remember his Mark IV with the oval side window.I think I liked the show because it was different.Yes it has all the usual cheezy plots and evil bad guys of most TV dramas of the era.But a rotund 50-ish private eye was definitely not typical of the genre.Producer Quinn Martin later would give us another "different" type of hero-Barnaby Jones (Buddy Ebsen-in his mid 60s by then).Look for guest stars Roy Scheider,Joan Van Ark,Wayne Rogers-and a small role by Vic Tayback (who later would become "Mel" at Mel's Diner on ...

  • Watch half the episodes of Cannon's 1st season and you'll buy Vol. 2 next!

Anyone who lived in Los Angeles in the 70's will enjoy these Cannon episodes. It was one of my favorite series then and the exploits of Frank Cannon are still wonderful forty years later. Filled with great car chases, fistfights and shootouts, Cannon has something for everybody. He doesn't take himself too seriously either, with plenty of self-deprecating humor regarding his tremendous girth. If you liked Barnaby Jones, Mannix, The Streets of San Francisco, Starsky & Hutch and Baretta, you will definitely like Cannon, who can shoot it out and slug it out with the best of them. A real class act!

  • Look forward to obtaining the complete Cannon series on DVD.

Howdy....My interest in Cannon alias Wm Conrad is personal.I met him informally during his visit to Sydney in the mid seventies. He was out here for the Logies awards. "Mr Conrad" was very similar to his "on stage persona", warm and friendly. The TV series featured one of my all time favourite cars, The Lincoln Continental{I'm also a car buff}. The plots were believable and no bad language{unlike todays' poor story lines}. I am enjoying reliving the series and hope to obtain the complete series when available. Cheers.

  • Entertaining, good storylines, excellent acting.

William Conrad was a strong, compelling actor. It is fun to watch him, but some of the stunts they had him doing were pretty far fetched and unbelievable. Still, "Cannon" is nostalgic to watch and the plots are mostly good. The DVD is great picture quality.

I bought the first season and looking forward to buy the second season.I wish there was a package deal for a few seasons combined. If you buy these dvd's you can see the 1970's way of thinking its entertaining.Cannon(william conrad) is called the fat man a retired leiutent of LA turns Private Investigator. The highest paid investigator in the state of California.I would like cbs to make a 2010 remake of this show Well enjoy !
