Product Information

Containing one of the most instantly recognizable intro sequences to a TV show ("Look up in the sky! It's a bird! It's a plane! It's Superman!"), THE ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN was the first attempt to bring the comic book character to television screens. This first season originally aired in 1952, and established great cinematic characters such as Lois Lane (Phyllis Coates), Jimmy Olsen (Jack Larson), and of course Clark Kent (George Reeves) himself. By day Kent attempts to live an anonymous existence as a reporter for the Daily Planet, but when trouble comes calling, he transforms into Superman, the last survivor from the planet Krypton. The first six seasons of the show are included on this release.

The best Superman?
I loved this when I first saw it as a kid, and I am very surprised at how well it entertains me to this day. The characters were very well portrayed by the writing and the actors. I was so sorry to hear of the recent death of Jack Larson, aka Jimmy Olsen. He will always be Jimmy to me. I was so happy to see Noel Neill make a brief cameo in the first big screen Superman movie. This set contains some interviews with these two actors which are also very entertaining. As for the lead, George Reeves, I believe his portrayal of the Man of Steel was top notch, equaling that of Christopher Reeve in the first movie. IMHO, the first Superman movie was the best (by far) of all the movies featuring the Man of Steel, mainly for all the same reasons I loved the TV series. So, I have to call it ... Adventures of Superman is Excellent!
Adventures of Superman is one of the finest productions to have ever been on television. This show is for everyone. I highly recommend it. George Reeves was a very special human being who portrays goodness, courage and fine moral ethics. His character should be considered as a role model today as he treats others with respect and treats all living beings with fairness and kindness. Nostalgia and enjoyed the entire series. I'm 69 years old and saw "Superman Meets the Mole Men" at the age of 12. Every Saturday, I looked forward to "Kelloggs, the greatest name in cereals presents............" Everyone in the house became glued to the TV for the next 30 minutes to see Lois Lane bound and gagged, in a precarious position, only to be rescued by the "Man of Steel" in the nick of time. No profanity, sex or innuendos, good clean entertainment. Added to my collection of old serials and TV series that we show often at parties, all of which are very much appreciated by all who see them and this one has been no exception.Nostalgia and enjoyed the entire series. Superman never grows old
I had watch the entire series once after being released on DVD and had sold it but now wish I had never did. After finding it on eBay brand new at a little over fifty dollars I decided to buy it once again and have been rematching the entire series once again. The original Superman television series never grows old for me.

2018 Xmas gift
I watched the show every week as a child. It was my favorite among many. Last Xmas I bought my TV/movie fan son-in-law the complete Universal monsters. He loved it. I know he loves Superman too so I ordered him these for next Xmas. Later they might be sold out. Check out his YouTube programs "get 2 the movies" and you'll see his "love".
