Packs a punch in a powerful package...
I have owned both the current and previous models of this Sony unit. All features and functions work well within the configurations of a portable stereo unit. For my own description I would not necessarily say this is a "compact" unit. It is a full size box with many functions and features to enhance listening performance. It is heavy to carry around and is best suited (for me, anyway) to sit upon a shelf in my work area. sound/ tone features can be adjusted to each individuals tastes using various preset equalizer functions and the woofer as well. Radio delivers better (louder) tone than the tape/cd selections but it did not take away from the sound quality too much, in my opinion. I was disappointed to not find it in current manufacture, but maybe Sony will see fit to reintroduce it or an updated/upgraded unit in the future. My listening tastes run the gamut from heavy metal to classical and this unit holds all genres well in sound quality(note- have not tried/listened to heavy bass music, so I cannot attest to its' quality in that format)

Lightweight with great features
Big sound with many features in a portable Boombox, easy to move around and a great option for outdoor sound and activities. A great option for sound around the Hot Tub/Spa for the fall winter months.

This Boombox is Quite Big but worth the money you pay for it SONY Quality is there just like any other SONY product I own it has very good sound Quality I've played CD's & Tapes Radio also it's just all there IT ROCKS like THE TITLE SAYS

Great Boombox With Great Sound and Power Output
We bought this because we use it in our community fitness center for dance practice and in the shower for practicing karaoke. It's got terrific sound and power. The woofer adds terrific bass. The only downside is the weight for carrying it around. It would also be nice if it could record in the cassette mode.
