Attila did not look like Gerard Butler. Attila was probably short, dark...and repulsive in appearance to the citizens of Rome. I prefer watching Butler. However, what this made for TV movie does, is give someone like me a better idea of when Attila lived, and how he fits in historically, Hun,to me, means a person having early Germanic ancestors. What was most interesting to me was the Roman courtship of Attila and later the Goths. For a time, Attila learned Roman military strategy and weaponry from the Romans. He fought with them. Later, he used this knowledge to damage the Roman Empire. He made it to the gates of Rome, but didn't sack the city. However, he acquired great wealth from pillaging. The Goths, who also were taught to fight like Romans by the Romans, did eventually sack ... Attila did not look like Gerard Butler. Current Democratic Nations are arming those who might later destroy them. Roman armies was spread too thin. Toward the end of the Empire, Rome had incompetent leadership. Attila gives us a sense of the puzzle fits together, while entertaining us with bloody battles and impossibly beautiful people. There is a lesson to be learned here...painlessly. It's worth watching on many levels. The reason I purchased it? Gerry Butler. I would pay to watch him open a can of tuna.

Powerful Movie Powerfully Entertaining throughout!
Wow what a Powerul movie & Performance from Gerard Butler & the cast of this wonderful Documentary based on the life of Atilla the Hun. Full of Excellent Artistic Photography, rich, interesting Characters & complex often surprising relationships. There is a definite chemistry between Gerard & his romantic love which comes across on the screen as well as his outcast friend which adds to the strong emotional pull & involvement this movie creates for the viewer. In addition to being historical this movie has an Enthralling story line. I could & I have watched this movie over & over again, it seems there is always something I find new & interesting that I missed before. Definite 5 STAR!!!Wow what a Powerul movie & Performance from Gerard Butler & the cast of this wonderful Documentary based on the life of Atilla the Hun. Attila starring Gerard Butler
This movie was much better than expected. I do recommend this movie for people who like to watch historical movies. While there is creative license taken as with any movie, this movie was full of excitement and lots of suspense. I work wih high school kids and at first thought it would be great to show them, but then there was an orgy scene, not real explicit but enough to keep the R rating is has been given. I love the action, the romance, the costumes, the strength and integrity of the hero, and the hero is what made the movie exciting. The movie is cohesive and does have emotional scenes both of joy and sadness. Has good behind the scenes views. Why did I buy this movie? For who else but the hero, Gerard Butler, a man with humour and much charisma. You don't have to be in the ... This movie was much better than expected. Great Movie for Braveheart, Gladiator, Roman Fans!!
Although this movie was made for TV I thought it did a great job telling the story of Attila the Hun here much better than Oliver Stone did with Alexander. I don't want to spoil the story for you but just don't expect huge computer generated armies like in Lord of the Rings or other big budget movies. Steller cast and plenty of T&A to hold your attention. Decent script and nice picture. But the important factor here was the storytelling and the direction this movie went. Also when HBO's Rome come's out definitely pick that up!Although this movie was made for TV I thought it did a great job telling the story of Attila the Hun here much better than Oliver Stone did with Alexander. Great job! I received the DVD quickly and it was new as promised. This was a made-for-tv epic, so I knew I would have some difficulty finding it. However, since I really loved the movie and wanted to watch it over and over, it was worth searching for. Gerard Butler is one of the best actors to come along and deserves all the good roles since this was made. He is going to be a REALLY big star for a long time.Great job!
