Actually Quite Impressive
I was actually quite impressed with this item. It recorded and played back without a problem, maybe the only one being it has to be used with an antenna, but since I'm looking to cut the cable it doesn't effect me all that much. It is a great value for the price, almost like having a DVR but without the expense. I am currently using a 64gb flash drive and haven't had a single issue with it. I also getting used to the remote and how to navigate to what I want to watch/record, not being one who wants to read, I just want to be able to do it. Regardless, if you're using an antenna, this little gem is a must have. It's like having a VCR all over again, LOL.I was actually quite impressed with this item. Off air DVR
I get my HDTV over the air and do not have access to a DVR from any of the cable or satellite providers. I therefore have been using old VCR's for my recordings and thus this unit has become my inexpensive personal DVR and all the better for the recordings are now in full HDTV. On the down side menus are not designed well and the remote keys are not all that well layout out and close together so you must hunt and look for them where I would like them arranged so you could do many things just by feel. Also if you want to go from a TV channel mode to playing back at recorded program you must click 8 key strokes on a least 3 different key. Seems that could have been made easier. Inexpensive and well worth the purchase.
Hooked to an antenna for free air reception tuner works well with high definition video broadcasts. Video quality as good or better than cable. USB drive option allows for the recording of scheduled programs selected. Recording mode is single function and will not allow viewing on another channel while recording. Clunky software but features at par with other more expensive devices. A Great Product
Set up and ran well. A little confusing on some of the settings but easy enough to learn. It's just a really good machine and definitely picked up the channels better than my big screen TV

Good but has some sound sync problems
with some programs the sound and picture are not in sync and although the instructions say change the audio settings for this problem it only works to a degree. there are only 3 settings and two are worse than one that is almost synced. It works great as a DVR if a remote hard drive is attached to the USB port. Seems to be a good product and I would give it 5 stars except for the times when the sound is not in sync with the picture.
