Brings Out The Artist In Me...
I recently discovered an interst in quilting again after not doing much sewing of any kind for more than 25 years. I bought several books for inspiration, but was quickly becoming discouraged with all the repetitive business of cutting out templates with freezer paper, cutting huge amounts of little tiny shapes to sew back together again, and basically "following the rules." Then I came across Landscape Quilts by Nancy Zieman and Natalie Sewell and WOW! I quickly discovered there is a way to cut, glue and design beautiful picture quilts that come alive with your own ideas and don't depend on patterns or precise cookie cutter directions and can actually be original works of art. The book is simple enough for even a beginner to understand the process and it provides a complete list of ... The book is simple enough for even a beginner to understand the process and it provides a complete list of easily assembled supplies and step by step directions with extra helpful little notes from the authors along the way. It has plenty of illustrations and color photos and also presents several alternative views of many of the projects if you need additional ideas. This book is definetly one of the best quilting books out there and will be an ideal addition to your quilting library whether you are just starting in this enjoyable (and addictive) hobby or if you are an expert looking to try something new and original.

Landscape Quilts
I purchased this book because I have several of Nancy Zieman's books and have enjoyed them. This one is a bit different. In the rural midwest, it is near impossible to duplicate, or even come close to the fabrics used (of course you can always shop online IF you're willing to put off beginning your project!!), BUT. . .if you just need inspiration and can be adaptable with fabrics you CAN locate, the book is a winner. I wish more time had been spent on composition, spacing, etc. And, while they say NOT to use fusibles, I find them to be the only way to secure very thin, or very long pieces, without tearing them -- the glue stick is just too much for fragile pieces. My first piece was probably half the size of most of the projects pictured (about 28 x 25), the tall trees and very long ... Excellent book to teach landscape quilting,
This is a beautifully illustrated book for landscape quilting. The ideas and instructions are clear and easy to understand and follow. I can't wait to get started on my next project using this book to make a beautiful landscape quilt.

Loved NancyZieman. These quilts are awesome. On line videos make it look easier than the book does. Most challenging part will be finding just the right material to use

I love learning about landscape quilting
I love this book. I am new to landscape quilting and this book has a lot of information in it. The book includes many examples of landscape quilts that they have made. It also includes mistakes they made to help you avoid the same mistake. I can't wait to try some projects from this book. I wish it included patterns, but it does not. However, it does have wonderful pictures of the quilts that they made. I recommend this book to anyone new to landscape quilting.I love this book.
