Thank you for not giving me a negative. I am sorry of the extra cracks. This is the description. THE IPAD CHARGERS AND POWERS UP, It has broken Glass!! THIS IS AN OLD IPOD AND MANY APPS MAY NOT WORK!!!!! It is old and not much use for it. This was on the description!!!!!! Best, Maddy

    GETTING PAST THE VOLUME CONTROL, I find it AHEAD OF IT's TIME in all else

    When this baby first came out, I didn't like the volume control on the headphone's wire either, because that made it less 'universal,' and I have 7 different high-end headphones laying around my house I would like the ease of plugging in and using at my convenience. After getting some used to, I realized that this IPod had everything else going for it besides that (the highest quality sound/ loudness out of any other generation Shuffle, or small mp3 device). Yes, it has better sound quality/ loudness than the generation Shuffle's before it, and better sound quality/ loudness than the generation after (where they go back to the people's choice of volume controls on the player).     Good little unit

    This is the first iPod I've ever owned & bought it primarily for skiing. It puts out great sound for a little unit and at 4 gb stores plenty of music. What I didn't realize was that was all the controls were on the earphones. Usually Apple gets things right the first time but I think they slipped a little on this one. Although the Apple earbuds sound good they're not comfortable so I've had to go online and find some other earbuds and an adapter so I can use them. I'm hoping that the adapter is of a high enough quality that it can withstand the snow (just in case it gets wet). Cool little unit though and a great first iPod for an old guy like me (I'm 54).

    Bought it just for running

    I just bought it just for running, which is excellent for, BUT I had to buy a different headphones, just because the one in box are horrible... I bought in-ear from Apple, but their not good for my ear and sports too... So I have found some Adapter which allows you to connect any headphones with classic connector (mini-jack)... I am using unow Koss Spak Plug and running with this player is easy... You don't have to think wghere to put it to do not feel it, so small you can put it everywhere...

    With the advent of the latest technology , the 3rd generation is obsolete.

    If the control is not working I have to connect it to an Scosche which has the same 3 control to press in order to start, lower or increase the volume and this contraption add to the cost of the whole thing. The reason I bought this , because it is slim, easily put in your pocket., but if you use it alone with your earphone, headphone without control, the volume is low. With scosche you can manipulate the volume control, with no scosche you can use portable mini amps to help you. For me, next time I will buy the latest generation of ipod shuffle or ipod nano with built in controls .

    ipod shuffle

    I love the fact that its Apple and so easy to use. I bought it for my sons girlfriend because it was easy for me to set up and for her to use. It holds alot of songs which is great, but i am not crazy about the size. It is so small, really small and has no screen, which i would have preferred.
