It's the early 1970s and the local anchorman is not only a source of news but a revered local hero. In San Diego, Ron Burgundy (Will Ferrell), a mustachioed bachelor with a taste for scotch, unparalleled passion for the jazz flute, and a near-telepathic connection with his spirited mutt, Baxter, is that man. Rounding out Ron's testosterone-heavy news team are his close friends--cologne-obsessed man-on-the-street Brian Fantana (Paul Rudd), sports reporter Champ Kind (Dave Koechner), and mentally challenged weatherman Brick Tamland (Steve Carrell). Their male camaraderie is challenged, though, when producer Ed Harken (Fred Willard), pressured by changing times, brings the first female reporter, ambitious Veronica Corningstone (Christina Applegate), to the team. Ron finds his chauvinistic ideals compromised further when he starts falling in love with her.Fueled by Ferrell's singularly loopy persona, ANCHORMAN joins the long list of comedies which have successfully poked fun at the styles and mores of the '70s. Here, with Ferrell's script and Adam McKay's direction, the character of Ron Burgundy becomes a full-bodied comic creation whose possibilities for laughs aren't nearly exhausted by the end credits. The result is an often hilarious celebration of moustaches, wide neckties, alcohol abuse, and good, old-fashioned sexism.

This is tonight's top story!
This movie is fantastic and very funny. A great spoof of the supercebrity persona of most local news anchors, this one set in 1970s San Diego is top story. What can you say when there is a fight of the news teams, including the three network teams, the PBS news team and the Latino news team. The characters are larger than life, their conversations and antics are ridiculous. My wife and I have seen this movie at least a dozen times and it is still very funny and I keep finding new tidbits and background things that are hilarious. This is more potent that Black Panther and better baby making music than a jazz flute. Eventhough the story is silly and the characters are larger than life, none of them are over acted. The bonus material on the DVD is great. There is over 30 minutes of ... This movie is fantastic and very funny. The MTV interviews are very funny and the ESPN audition is ludicrous and hysterical. We got ours with a special Breaking News! Best Buy exclusive DVD and it is an adidtional 30 minutes of material that will have you rolling. If you like to laugh, then you want to add this to your collection. It is one of the best comedies to come out in the last 10 years at least.

The legend of Ron Burgundy
There are so many fantastic moments in this film that elevate it to a timeless and classic over the top comedy. Almost every moment is filled with fun and good humour. The multilingual network news brawl is still defiantly the greatest battle scene ever committed to celloid. Super egos, super cool clothes, scotch, a partly animated sex scene, a pregnant panda and jazz flute. Who could ask for more? A great script with so many memorable lines. Stay classy San Diego. I'm kind of a big deal. I killed a guy with a trident. Jazz flute is for little fairy boys. I could go on but it's more fun to watch it and watch it again. Drink it in. It always goes down smooth. Awesome DVD
I decided to purchase this particular movie because it was one of my favorite comedies when it came out. Will Farrel is probably one of the best comedians of all time. I absolutely love his movies. I also am a huge fan of Christina Applegate, she is a hilarious comedienne! Both of them together is just a match made in comedy heaven! This is a fantastic buy. On the downside the movie does get a little bit cheeese ball toward the end, but all in all a great buy. I am happy to have this in my DVD coolection. I would recomned this to everyone who is a fan of Will Farrel.I decided to purchase this particular movie because it was one of my favorite comedies when it came out. Instant classic
Will Ferrell was at his best here. Hilarious characters, funny story, a very good supporting cast. Non-stop laughs. Lightning in a bottle here, the sequel doesn't even come close to it.

Perfect!
Call me old fashioned but I like to own my DVD’s. Controversial, I know. This was shipped on time and in great condition. My teen boys are still laughing. And so are their parents.
